Foundation Stone Laid for New Technology Centre in Gaya

On June 15, 2026, a momentous occasion will unfold in Khizarsarai, Gaya, Bihar as Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Samrat Choudhary, come together to lay the foundation stone for a new Technology Centre. The ceremony will begin with a traditional Bhoomi Pujan, marking the start of construction for this significant project that aims to bolster local industries.

The new Technology Centre is part of the Government’s broader initiative to support the MSME sector and drive the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign, which focuses on fostering self-reliance and enhancing competitiveness within the micro and small businesses across India. This network of Technology Centres and Extension Centres plays a crucial role in promoting indigenous manufacturing capabilities and advancing sustainable industrial growth.

Investment and Infrastructure of Technology Centre

The Technology Centre at Gaya will be developed with a total investment of Rs. 170 crore, which includes Rs. 86 crore allocated for civil works and Rs. 84 crore dedicated to plant and machinery. Situated on a spacious 20-acre plot provided by the State Government, the Centre will feature a built-up area of around 16,800 square meters, encompassing various facilities such as a Production Block, Training Block, Utility Block, Administrative Block, Multipurpose Hall, Hostel, and Staff Accommodation.

Focus Areas and Services Offered

This Centre is designed to cater to key sectors including General Engineering, Heavy Engineering, and Textile Testing. It aims to provide essential support to MSMEs across the districts of Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Nalanda, Jehanabad, and Munger. By offering access to cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and a workforce ready to meet industry demands, the Centre will empower local businesses to innovate and compete on a global scale.

Among the services offered will be tool room facilities for moulds, dies, jigs, and fixtures, CNC machining services, CAD/CAM/CAE facilities, rapid prototyping, and an Industry 4.0 lab. Additionally, training programs focusing on crucial fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, and Quality Control will ensure that the workforce remains relevant and skilled.

Anticipated Impact on Local Economy

The Technology Centre has set ambitious goals, with plans to train approximately 7,000 individuals annually through various short-term and long-term programs tailored to current industry needs. Furthermore, it aims to support over 1,000 local MSMEs with tooling activities and job work each year.

This initiative is expected to act as a significant catalyst for industrial growth in southern Bihar, closing existing technology gaps while integrating local MSMEs into broader global supply chains. The establishment of the Technology Centre is poised to strengthen not only the regional economy but also the historic Magadh region, ensuring a bright future for its industries.
