Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, is set to embark on an official visit to Canada and the United States from August 25 to September 2, 2026. This high-profile trip aims to bolster bilateral economic and financial partnerships, enhance investment collaborations, and advance joint efforts on pressing global economic issues.

Key Meetings in Canada

In Toronto, Smt. Sitharaman will engage in the inaugural Economic and Financial Dialogue with Canada’s Finance Minister, H.E. Mr. François-Philippe Champagne. This two-way discussion will address essential topics such as macroeconomic trends, financial sector cooperation, and opportunities for mutual investment, further solidifying the economic ties between India and Canada.

Top executives from Indian Public Sector Banks will also be involved, showcasing opportunities for enhanced financial collaboration.

At the Canadian Club of Toronto, a fireside chat will take place between Smt. Sitharaman and Mr. Champagne, discussing the evolving Canada-India relationship, investment climate, and respective domestic economic priorities.

In addition to official meetings, Smt. Sitharaman intends to connect with the Indian diaspora in Toronto, emphasizing their crucial role in bolstering economic and cultural links between the two nations.

Exploring Opportunities in the U.S.

During the U.S. leg of her visit, Smt. Sitharaman will travel to Chicago, Asheville, and New York from August 28 to September 2, 2026.
