Empowered Panchayats: Workshop on Service Delivery in Srinagar

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) is set to host a significant Regional Workshop titled ‘Seva Se Samriddhi: Panchayat-led Service Delivery’ in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on June 23, 2026. This workshop will be inaugurated by Shri Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, alongside other dignitaries, including Shri Javid Ahmad Dar, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj of Jammu and Kashmir, and senior officials from the MoPR and local government.

Organized in collaboration with the Common Services Centre Special Purpose Vehicle (CSC-SPV) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the event represents a major step towards enhancing service delivery in rural areas. It aims to fortify the ‘Ease of Living’ in Grameen Bharat by empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions and local bodies to become more accountable and responsive.

Gathering Key Stakeholders

This workshop will gather an array of stakeholders committed to improving governance at the grassroots level. It will draw participation from Panchayat functionaries, elected representatives, and Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) across seven states, including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, representatives from civil society organizations, academic institutions, and rural technology firms will bring diverse insights into effective service delivery and governance practices.

Recognizing Excellence

A highlight of the workshop will be the recognition and felicitation of high-performing Gram Panchayats and exemplary Common Service Centres (CSCs) from the attending states. This initiative seeks to inspire further excellence in service provision and innovation at the local level.

Focus on Digital Transformation

Discussions at the workshop will center on enhancing Panchayat-led service delivery through the lens of digital tools, citizen engagement, creativity, and making public services more accessible. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in panel discussions, technical sessions, and experience-sharing forums that promote inter-state knowledge exchange. This structured approach is expected to foster the spread of effective governance models across various regions.

The workshop stands as part of the MoPR’s ongoing commitment to strengthen rural governance and elevate the standards of living in India’s villages. As the nation strides towards comprehensive development, such initiatives play a crucial role in building empowered and resilient communities.
