CIC Clarifies Misreported Case Disposal Figures for August 2026
The Central Information Commission (CIC) has responded to a recent media report that inaccurately depicted the number of Second Appeals and Complaints resolved in August 2026. The Commission asserts that the figures published do not reflect the true volume of cases handled during the specified period. Contrary to the report’s claim of only three appeals being disposed of, the CIC clarified that it has actually resolved 768 cases by August 12, 2026.
The misunderstanding arose as the Second Appeals and Complaints Portal is currently undergoing significant upgrades, which began on August 2, 2026. During this upgrade, the portal’s data was only updated up to August 1, 2026, leading to discrepancies in the information available on the Commission’s website. Prior notice regarding this portal enhancement was posted on the Commission’s website as well as the portal itself on July 24, 2026.
Despite the backend upgrades, the functioning of the CIC and the conducting of hearings have remained uninterrupted. The Commission emphasizes that the outdated figures displayed on its website do not accurately represent the number of cases disposed of in August 2026.
Enhancements for Better Accessibility
The ongoing upgrades aim to improve the user experience for applicants and stakeholders utilizing the CIC’s online services. The intention is to create a more efficient and user-friendly digital platform for navigating the intricacies of Second Appeals and Complaints.
Once the portal is fully operational by August 17, 2026, the website will be refreshed with updated case information. This enhancement is expected to provide stakeholders with easier access to the latest information about their cases, thus facilitating a more transparent and effective process.
Commitment to Transparency
The Central Information Commission reiterates its dedication to transparency and accurate reporting of its activities. The agency will continue to provide pertinent case-disposal statistics for public access through its website and portal, ensuring that stakeholders can verify the factual workings of the Commission post-upgrade.
