About the Mains Written Examination

The Mains exam for Bihar Police Sub-Inspector recruitment was held in two papers:

  1. Paper I – General Hindi: A qualifying paper in which candidates needed to secure a minimum of 30% marks.
  2. Paper II – General Studies: The paper used for preparing the merit list along with Paper I marks.

According to figures released by the Commission, 34,302 candidates appeared for Paper I, of which 414 were declared ineligible for reasons including wrong roll numbers or wrong question booklet numbers marked on the OMR sheet, missing signatures, and incomplete Hindi/English paragraph writing. After evaluating 33,888 answer sheets, 33,726 candidates cleared the minimum qualifying mark in Paper I.

For Paper II (General Studies), 34,298 candidates appeared, with 998 declared ineligible due to similar OMR-related errors, absence in the first shift, or failure to clear Paper I. A total of 33,300 answer sheets were evaluated.

Eventually, 32,645 candidates met the minimum qualifying criteria in both papers and became eligible for consideration in the merit-based, category-wise selection process for the PET round.
