He is considered by many to be the greatest Russian poet and the founder of modern Russian literature. Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin was born on June 6, 1799, in Moscow, Russia. He came from a noble family and received a privileged upbringing. Pushkin showed an early talent for writing and began composing poetry at a young age.
