AI Touch Secures Funding for 5G Innovations

AI Touch LLP has recently received significant funding from the Department of Telecommunications under the Digital Bharat Nidhi scheme. This funding will support the development of advanced components for disaggregated 5G Radio Access Networks (RAN). The project focuses on creating essential modules, including the RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC), Service Management and Orchestration (SMO), and Network Data Analytics Function (NWDAF). These components are crucial for enhancing the efficiency and performance of 5G networks in India.

Advancing 5G Technology with AI

The primary goal of this initiative is to develop a comprehensive platform that integrates the SMO, RIC, and NWDAF modules. This platform will be powered by an AI/ML-driven intent engine. By utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning, the platform aims to facilitate intelligent and automated control of both RAN and Core nodes. This will be achieved through AI/ML-based applications and closed-loop automation.

One of the key features of this platform is its ability to manage user experiences during congestion scenarios. It will provide interfaces that allow for the onboarding of third-party applications. The integration of Non-Real-Time RIC, Near-Real-Time RIC, SMO, and NWDAF will significantly enhance network automation and performance. The RIC modules will focus on AI/ML-driven network optimization, while the SMO will enable cross-domain orchestration. Meanwhile, NWDAF will offer analytics and insights that support better decision-making. Together, these solutions promise to bring operational efficiency to the 5G network.

Collaboration with C-DOT

The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) will oversee the implementation of this project. C-DOT is the premier telecom research and development center under the Department of Telecommunications in India. Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, emphasized the importance of collaboration in this project. He stated, โ€œC-DOT, as the implementation partner, will ensure that the project adheres to the highest standards of technological development.โ€ This partnership aims to create indigenous solutions that will strengthen India’s telecom ecosystem.

Dr. Parag Agarwal, Deputy Director General of the TTDF, also highlighted the significance of this initiative. He noted that the TTDF scheme fosters innovation in Indiaโ€™s telecom sector. According to him, this project by AI Touch will not only drive AI-driven advancements but also lay the foundation for a self-reliant 5G ecosystem in the country.

Future Prospects and Impact

The project is expected to deliver solutions that significantly reduce operational complexities for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). It aims to improve cost efficiency while supporting new applications in the telecom sector. Amit Gupta, a partner at AI Touch, expressed the company’s commitment to leveraging AI and ML for advanced analytics and intelligent models. He stated, โ€œIn this project, we are leading the development of predictive capabilities and automation frameworks within RIC and NWDAF.โ€ This focus ensures that the platform can effectively handle complex network challenges with precision.

Overall, the initiative aims to contribute to the development of an indigenous 5G ecosystem in India. By laying the groundwork for future advancements, it seeks to enhance the overall telecom landscape. The collaboration between AI Touch and C-DOT represents a significant step toward achieving a robust and efficient 5G network in the country.
