Scene 1: Shanaya and Shukwinder’s Argument Begins

Sons leave their parents, but daughters stay.” She shakes her head and adds, “Parents have to spend so much money for their daughters’ marriage, not for their sons’.” Shukwinder listens quietly but then says, “Shanaya, please stop talking about this. Shanaya says, “I would have done that no matter what. My daughter takes care of her parents after getting married too.” She wants to show that she cares. Shukwinder agrees, “You are right, Shanaya.” She feels relieved that Shanaya understands. Shukwinder then says, “Let’s go,” wanting to end the argument.
Scene 7: Shanaya Reveals Her Pain
Shanaya tells Shukwinder, “I did not forget that I came to commit suicide.” Her voice is soft but filled with pain. “Please, Shukwinder, go.” Shukwinder asks, “Why don’t you understand, Shanaya?” She feels confused and hurt by Shanaya’s words. Shanaya says, “I am always number 2. I am tired of it.” She feels invisible to her family. “Palki is their priority.” Shukwinder tries to calm her down, “It’s not like that.” She wants Shanaya to see things differently.
Scene 8: Promises and Frustration
Shukwinder promises, “I will love you the most, Shanaya.” She wants to reassure her daughter. Shanaya replies, “Even my future in-laws love Palki more.” She feels like she is losing her place in the family. “I became a loser,” Shanaya adds, feeling defeated.
