International Day of Yoga 2022 and celebrations across India

International Yoga Dayย is celebrated onย 21 Juneย to spread awareness about the importance and effects of yoga on the health and wellbeing of people. It is celebrated on the day since 2015 after its inception in UNGA in 2014. The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in his UN address in 2014, had suggested the date of 21st June, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world.

Events onย International Yoga Day 2022 across India

As part of theย 8th International Day of Yoga (IDY), Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi willย lead the Yoga Dayย observance fromย Mysuru Palace, Mysuru, Karnataka. PMโ€™s address will be live streamed on DD National and DD Channels from 6:40 to 7:00 am. A Digital Yoga Exhibition at Mysuru will showcase highlights and achievements of previous editions of International Day of Yoga. In addition to strength of Yoga, best practices, research highlights, andย Common Yoga Protocol, there will be other stuff.

International Yoga Day: History, Theme, and Significance

As the country celebratesย 75 years of independence, 75 iconic sites have been chosen for observation of IDY.ย One of them is theย Statue of Unityย in Kevadia, Gujarat. On 21st June 2022, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Health Minister, will lead yoga celebrations from Kevadia, Gujarat.

Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Steel, Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste will be leading the celebrations of 8thย International Day of Yoga at the Golden Pagoda (Namsai) in Arunachal Pradesh while the Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti will be leading the celebrations of 8thย International Day of Yoga at the Residency in Lucknow.

Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Shri Giriraj Singh will be leading the celebrations of 8thย International Day of Yoga on 21stย of June 2022 at Har Ki Pauri, situated in the holy city of Haridwar in Uttarakhand.
