DoPPW Drives Cleanliness and Efficiency in Special Campaign 6
The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has launched an ambitious initiative as part of Special Campaign 6 aimed at enhancing cleanliness, streamlining grievance resolution, and managing physical and electronic files more effectively. The campaign is designed to foster a cleaner environment and improve the overall experience for pensioners and the public.
Plantation Drive and Cleanliness Activities
On October 2, 2026, Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, along with Secretary Nivedita Shukla Verma and senior officials from DoPPW and DARPG, participated in a plantation drive at the Central Society of Indian Oil (CSOI) in New Delhi. This activity was part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ campaign that emphasizes sustainability and environmental care. Additionally, DoPPW organized extensive cleaning activities at Lok Nayak Bhawan, where staff engaged in deep cleaning, garbage collection, and beautifying the office premises.
Improving Workplace Resources
As part of the campaign on October 26, 2026, the Minister and the Secretary conducted an inspection of the DoPPW office, including a visit to a newly developed library and a designated ‘Selfie Point’ created from repurposed office equipment and furniture. This initiative is part of a broader Waste to Wealth effort aimed at promoting environmental sustainability within the workplace. The department has also coordinated activities across 21 identified sites nationwide to ensure cleanliness and hygiene in public offices.
Managing Records Effectively
In a significant move towards better space management, out of a total of 747 physical files identified for review, 56 files have already been weeded out. In addition, a review of 753 electronic files led to the closure of 189 files under e-waste compliance, providing relief in digital storage and improving efficiency.
Enhancing Pensioners’ Experience
Focusing on easing the lives of pensioners, DoPPW has issued 37 Office Memorandums (OMs) aimed at simplifying administrative procedures. This step reinforces the department’s ongoing commitment to enhance the quality of life for retirees and protect their rights.
Addressing Public Grievances
DoPPW has made tremendous strides in addressing grievances from Central Government pensioners. The department reported the resolution of 10,198 grievances, surpassing its target of 9,307, achieving an impressive disposal rate of 109.57%. Active monitoring through the SCDPM portal has ensured that all issues are addressed timely, with a dedicated team ensuring no grievance goes unresolved.
