ECL Honors Indian Navy with Unique Warship Model Made from Coal Waste
In a heartfelt tribute to the Indian Navy’s dedication in protecting the nation’s maritime borders, Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, presented a unique warship model to the 1 Bengal NCC Naval Unit, Group Headquarters NCC Kolkata ‘C’ on Friday. This custom-crafted model, made from repurposed coal mining equipment, embodies the shared values of service and commitment found in both coal miners and naval personnel.
The warship model was carefully designed and produced at ECL’s Neamatpur Central Workshop as part of the ‘Waste to Wealth’ initiative under Special Campaign 6. This program, led by Dr. Satish Jha, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of ECL, emphasizes sustainability and innovation by transforming industrial scraps into symbols of national pride.
Maj. S. Tiwari, Chief of Security at ECL, along with Ms. Nishchal Soni, Manager (HR) of Neamatpur Central Workshop, delivered the model to Commodore Caesar Basu and Commander Sanjib Saran of the Indian Navy. This presentation signifies ECL’s heartfelt appreciation for the Armed Forces and their unwavering service to the country.
Creative Repurposing Through Waste to Wealth
The warship model is one of ten distinct creations developed by ECL as part of the ‘Waste to Wealth’ initiative during the current Special Campaign 6. Each model conveys important social messages and highlights the potential of repurposing discarded materials into innovative works of art.
This initiative not only showcases ECL’s commitment to effective waste management and resource conservation, but also demonstrates the technical skills of its workforce in promoting environmental sustainability. By focusing on recycling and conservation, ECL embodies the principles of a circular economy.
A Symbol of Unity and Service
This presentation serves as a distinctive acknowledgment of the collaboration between India’s coal industry and its naval forces. It reflects a collective spirit of service, sustainability, and national unity. From the depths of coal mines to the expansive seas, both coal miners and naval personnel are united by their shared commitment to serve the nation.
