India’s Sports Department Prepares for Special Campaign 6.0
The Department of Sports, Government of India is leading the way in enhancing governance and improving administrative processes as it gears up for the Special Campaign 6.0. Building on the success of Special Campaign 5.0, which was accomplished last year, the Department is taking concrete steps to ensure effective e-waste management through dedicated efforts in collection, segregation, and disposal.
In collaboration with its partner organizations—including the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), National Sports University (NSU), National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), and the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL)—the Department successfully met various objectives during Special Campaign 5.0. Senior officials closely monitored the progress, leading to a series of cleanliness initiatives across 50 locations, including both headquarters and field offices.
This focused approach allowed the Department to reclaim 390,000 square feet of space, transforming many of these newly recovered areas into functional utility spaces. Moreover, the campaign’s scrap disposal efforts generated significant revenue amounting to ₹4,07,55,976, showcasing a strong commitment to sustainability while enhancing the overall cleanliness of the work environment. Social media platforms were leveraged to further promote the campaign, increasing its visibility and community engagement.
Now, the Department is entering the Preparatory Phase for Special Campaign 6.0, scheduled from September 15th to September 30th, 2026. The objective is clear: to elevate workplace cleanliness standards and achieve the goals set by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). With these strategic initiatives, the Department of Sports is poised not only to maintain but also to expand its commitments toward responsible governance and environmental responsibility.
