TRAI Unveils Digital Connectivity Rating Platform to Enhance Consumer Choices
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has launched an innovative Digital Connectivity Rating (DCR) Platform, designed to empower consumers by providing visibility into the digital connectivity ratings of various properties. This integrated platform simplifies the process of rating properties’ digital connectivity and includes a mobile app for testing connectivity directly on-site.
The DCR Platform is in line with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Rating of Properties for Digital Connectivity) Regulations, 2024, along with amendments made in 2026. This initiative aims to enable users to effectively assess both constructed and under-construction properties by creating a seamless interface between registered Digital Connectivity Rating Agencies (DCRAs), Property Managers, and consumers.
Streamlined Ratings for Enhanced Transparency
With the DCR Platform, consumers can now easily search rated properties based on various criteria such as property name, certificate ID, or location. The platform not only allows visibility into property ratings but also provides access to certified documents, enabling consumers to make well-informed decisions when purchasing or leasing properties. Through a publicly accessible rating page, users can view digitally signed rating certificates and verify their authenticity via a QR code.
Empowering Property Managers and Agencies
Property Managers registered with the DCRAs can utilize the platform to register their properties across multiple categories—including public, government, commercial, and private. They can submit rating applications, upload necessary documentation, and track the status of their applications. Meanwhile, DCRAs can access applications, carry out assessments, and manage documentation to finalize the rating process.
A dedicated mobile app will support field assessments by allowing authorized DCRAs to conduct in-building digital connectivity measurements. Information gathered through the web portal will synchronize with the assessment data collected via the mobile application, streamlining the entire process.
Enhancing Digital Infrastructure Awareness
Shri Anil Kumar Lahoti, Chairman of TRAI, expressed that the DCR Platform aims to create a standardized and transparent framework for evaluating properties’ digital connectivity. He emphasized that the platform will equip consumers with reliable information, helping them choose properties with robust connectivity for smoother online interactions.
The DCR framework sets forth specific parameters for assessing digital connectivity, including fibre readiness and mobile network availability. This initiative is expected to encourage the integration of digital connectivity infrastructure during property development stages, fostering improved connectivity performance in both new and existing buildings.
