SAMAVESH UTSAV to Celebrate DNT Community Empowerment
The Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC) is set to host the much-anticipated “SAMAVESH UTSAV” at the Bhim Hall, Dr. Ambedkar International Centre (DAIC), in the heart of the National Capital on the morrow. This vibrant event aims to engage approximately 700 members from DNT communities, including community leaders, artisans, and beneficiaries, in a spirit of inclusion and empowerment.
Esteemed figures will grace the occasion, including Dr. Virendra Kumar, the Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, along with Shri B. L. Verma, the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment. High-level representatives from DWBDNC are also expected to attend, such as Members Shri Bharatbhai Babubhai Patni and Shri Pravin Shivajirao Ghuge.
Empowering DNT Communities
The SAMAVESH UTSAV is part of ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering the inclusion, empowerment, and overall progress of De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic (DNT) communities across the country. The event will feature stalls showcasing traditional craftsmanship and products from DNT artisans, along with displays from the Bharat-TULIP Heritage Store.
Attendees will have the opportunity to discover success stories from the Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs (SEED), which aims to enhance the economic and social well-being of these communities. Additionally, the event will highlight various initiatives taken by the Central Government to support DNT communities in their journey towards empowerment.
Key Government Initiatives
The DWBDNC was established by the Central Government on 21st February 2019 to implement welfare and development programs for these communities. Following this establishment, the SEED scheme was launched, focusing on holistic welfare in key areas such as education, health, livelihood, and housing. Currently, this scheme is operational in eight states: Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, where DNT certificates are being issued by respective state governments.
As SAMAVESH UTSAV unfolds, it is expected to serve not just as a celebration, but also as a platform for further advocacy and enhancement of DNT communities, paving the way for greater socio-economic advancements.
