Panch Sammelans Boost Rural Development Across India

The nationwide initiative of District-level Panch Sammelans has marked a significant milestone in the implementation of the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin): VB-G RAM G Act, 2025. Organized by the Ministry of Rural Development, these events aim to educate elected representatives and officials of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) about their roles and responsibilities under the new legislative framework.

Successful Outreach and Participation

So far, a total of 1,338 Panch Sammelans have been held across India, showcasing a robust engagement from both States and Union Territories. Through these Sammelans, over 5.26 lakh representatives, officials, and staff members from various levels of Panchayati Raj have participated. The impressive turnout reflects a growing commitment and enthusiasm among local governance representatives in understanding their pivotal roles within grassroots governance.

State Achievements and Innovative Approaches

Nineteen states and Union Territories, including Assam, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu, have successfully conducted their scheduled Panch Sammelans, illustrating effective and timely implementation. Highlighting innovative strategies, some states like Gujarat and Jammu & Kashmir have expanded their efforts beyond district levels to enhance outreach, therefore fostering greater participation among local leaders.

Empowering Gram Panchayats

The VB-G RAM G Act, 2025 places significant focus on empowering Gram Panchayats to lead rural development initiatives. These Sammelans serve as critical platforms to educate participants on various aspects of the Act, including the Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan (VGPP), Rural Rozgar Guarantee Card, asset creation, and mechanisms for social accountability.
