Workshop on Reservation Policy Implementation in Public Sector Banks
The Department of Financial Services (DFS) under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, is set to hold an important workshop on August 20-21, 2026, at the Union Bank of India Staff College in Bengaluru. The focus of this workshop will be the implementation of the Government of India’s Reservation Policy within Public Sector Banks (PSBs), Public Sector Insurance Companies (PSICs), Sectoral Regulators, and Public Financial Institutions (PFIs). The second day of the workshop aims to enhance the accessibility of financial services for Divyangjans.
Strengthening Institutional Capacity
This workshop is being organized in collaboration with Union Bank of India, with the intent of fortifying institutional capacity. The goal is to ensure a uniform and effective execution of reservation policies and to promote welfare measures across public financial institutions. Over 100 participants, including senior Human Resource officials and Chief Legal Officers from various entities such as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), attended the first day of the workshop.
Engaging Discussions and Deliberations
Functional experts on reservation matters guided discussions during the workshop. The sessions included a roundtable that addressed the practical challenges faced in the implementation of reservation policies. These engagements encouraged participants to share insights and experiences, culminating in an interactive question-and-answer session. This provided an opportunity for attendees to discuss actionable measures that can achieve consistent implementation of reservation policies across the financial services sector.
The insights gained from this workshop are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future of financial inclusivity in India, ensuring that benefits reach the intended beneficiaries effectively. By focusing on enhancing accessibility for all, especially for Divyangjans, the workshop advocates for a more inclusive financial landscape in the country.
