Wage Dispute of 423 Workers at Ordnance Factory Resolved
A wage-related dispute involving 423 contract workers at the Ordnance Factory in Kanpur has been successfully resolved thanks to the timely efforts of the Regional Labour Commissioner (Central) in Kanpur. Under the auspices of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) from the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, a significant breakthrough was achieved.
On August 13, 2026, M/s Immense Manpower Pvt. Ltd., the contractor for the workers, disbursed ₹50,00,000 (Fifty Lakh Rupees) in outstanding wages for the months of June and July 2026. This financial relief was made possible through the proactive conciliation efforts of the authorities.
Moreover, following this intervention, the Principal Employer also processed the pending bill for May 2026, thereby settling the wage-related issues and ensuring prompt payment to the workers. This resolution was crucial in averting a proposed strike or demonstration by the employees, thereby preventing disruption at the industrial facility and maintaining harmony within the workplace.
During the conciliation talks, management representatives were made aware of their legal responsibilities associated with worker welfare and compliance with labour laws. The discussions highlighted the importance of fostering constructive dialogue to maintain healthy industrial relations and ensuring timely implementation of employee welfare measures. The management expressed a commitment to prioritize workforce welfare and adhere to statutory regulations.
This successful resolution of the wage dispute reflects the Government’s ongoing dedication to protecting workers’ rights and ensuring their access to timely benefits.
