West Bengal Civil Servants Embrace iGOT Karmayogi Learning Platform
A total of 90,276 civil servants from West Bengal have joined the iGOT Karmayogi digital learning platform, aimed at enhancing their skills and competencies. However, the West Bengal government has yet to formalize its participation by signing the tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to Mission Karmayogi.
As part of this initiative, eight draft Capacity Building Plans (CBPs) have been developed focusing on priority departments within the state. The iGOT Karmayogi platform provides access to over 5,600 courses that cover a wide array of competencies including domain-specific knowledge, functional skills, and behavioral training. To date, learners from West Bengal have completed 10,493 courses, showcasing their commitment to personal and professional development.
Under the framework of Mission Karmayogi, which is designed to enhance the capabilities of government officials across the nation, all Central Government employees and All India Services officers are required to complete designated courses annually via the iGOT platform. The completion of these courses is reflected in their Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs).
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), along with other agencies involved in Mission Karmayogi—including the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) and Karmayogi Bharat (KB)—is assisting the West Bengal government in these capacity-building efforts. This support includes guidance on adopting role-based competency frameworks, onboarding individuals onto the iGOT platform, and integrating this platform with various HR tools.
To facilitate these initiatives, a Programme Coordinator from CBC and an Assistant Manager from KB have been appointed as Nodal Officers for West Bengal. Additionally, the DoPT organizes targeted capacity-building activities across all states and Union Territories, including those for West Bengal, under the Training for All (TFA) programme.
