A significant review meeting took place today at the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD) in Indore. Chaired by Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annpurna Devi, the meeting included Minister of State, Smt. Savitri Thakur, along with various dignitaries, government officials, and members of the institute.
The meeting kicked off with a tree plantation drive as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, which is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the event, five saplings—including Banyan, Peepal, Bael, Ashoka, and Amla—were planted by Minister Devi and other esteemed guests, reflecting a commitment to environmental responsibility.
Following the ceremonial start, Minister Devi conducted an in-depth review of the activities and upcoming programs at the Institute. Shri Valeti Premchand, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Women and Child Development and Director of SPNIWCD, presented details about the ongoing training programs, research initiatives, and the advancements at the Child Guidance Centre. He announced the launch of the Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling (ADCGC) program, set to begin in July 2026, which has received recognition from the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
Minister Devi highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. She emphasized the importance of flagship schemes such as Saksham Anganwadi, POSHAN 2.0, Mission Shakti, and Mission Vatsalya in empowering women and children. Moreover, she stressed the necessity of gathering regular feedback from training participants to assess the effectiveness and outreach of the Institute’s programs.
Emphasizing the need for psychosocial counselling in educational institutions and communities, Minister Devi noted that the ADCGC course aims to cultivate trained professionals to support children’s mental and emotional health. She also called for increased awareness regarding the services offered by the Child Guidance Centre to broaden its reach.
During the visit, Minister Devi and Minister Thakur engaged with participants of the “Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi” State Level Master Trainers Round-II Training Programme from Maharashtra. The Union Minister commended the outstanding contributions of Champion Anganwadi Workers involved in the training. She interacted with trainees from Sakhi One Stop Centres representing Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh, addressing issues related to violence against women and discussing available support services.
In a show of appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the Institute’s staff and faculty, Minister Devi expressed confidence that the SPNIWCD will continue to make impactful contributions to women’s and child development in the future.
