India Launches Digital Portal to Boost Research and Innovation

In a transformative move for India’s research landscape, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, today unveiled a digital portal supported by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). This platform aims to provide training in patent filing and assistance in research paper writing for researchers, students, and innovators nationwide.

The announcement came during a Joint Review Meeting attended by key figures from various scientific departments, including the Department of Biotechnology and the Ministry of Earth Sciences. The meeting served as a platform to assess the progress of ongoing scientific initiatives and discuss ways to improve collaboration among institutions.

Dr. Singh highlighted that the newly launched portal will be a vital resource for enhancing the capabilities of researchers and budding innovators. By offering structured support in areas such as scientific writing and intellectual property protection, the portal seeks to improve research quality and promote innovation across the country.

During the meeting, Dr. Singh emphasized the necessity for greater coordination among scientific organizations. He pointed out that many institutions are engaged in overlapping research efforts without adequate communication about ongoing projects. To address this, he called for the establishment of structured mechanisms to share information on major initiatives and technological advancements, thereby ensuring that expertise within one department can effectively assist others.

The Minister also stressed the significance of showcasing scientific successes. He proposed that review sessions should include presentations on notable achievements from various laboratories to promote cross-learning and strengthen collaboration among institutions working in related fields.

Furthermore, Dr. Singh highlighted the importance of science communication, advocating for a unified outreach strategy that utilizes digital tools and social media to make scientific accomplishments more accessible to the public, students, and innovators. He called for exploring common communication platforms to improve the dissemination of research findings and innovation outcomes.

The Minister reviewed a capacity-building initiative focused on science administration, asserting that scientists in leadership roles need to be more familiar with governance and management systems. He recommended expanding these training programs to enhance scientific administration in line with the ongoing Mission Karmayogi.

In addition, the meeting touched on preparations for the upcoming ESTIC 2026 event, which aims to showcase India’s scientific advancements and innovation capabilities. Dr. Singh encouraged broad participation from institutions, startups, and international experts to foster a collaborative environment.

The review session culminated in a collective commitment from all officials to enhance cooperation among scientific departments, strengthen institutional capacities, and amplify the visibility and societal impact of India’s scientific research and innovation.
