Democratizing Access for Folk Artists

Shri Vivek Aggarwal elaborated on the Ministry’s goal of democratizing access for folk artists across India. This initiative will empower them to uphold their cultural heritage while evolving into independent creative entrepreneurs. By leveraging YouTube’s extensive reach alongside the Ministry’s robust infrastructure, the effort goes beyond providing a mere platform; it aims to pave the way for a multitude of folk artists toward self-reliance and successful ventures.

YouTube’s Commitment to Cultural Preservation

Commenting on the partnership, Gunjan Soni from YouTube expressed excitement about helping artists from various parts of India showcase their talents globally. She highlighted that folk music is an integral aspect of India’s rich cultural heritage. A Comprehensive Support System for Folk Musicians

The program will focus on strengthening the ecosystem of Indian traditional and folk music through digital skills training, awareness of intellectual property rights, and collaboration opportunities.

Addressing Challenges in the Global Landscape

India’s rich folk and tribal music heritage, while vibrant, has faced challenges related to global visibility and digital distribution. This initiative aims to bridge these gaps through structured training, accessibility to infrastructure, and ongoing institutional support. The Ministry of Culture will provide strategic leadership and oversight, facilitating effective execution and impact assessment.

Training Future Generations of Artists

With the MoU in place, YouTube will assist the Ministry and its affiliated organizations in educating artists on best practices for digital content creation, channel management, monetization strategies, and copyright management. By understanding audience insights through YouTube analytics, artists will be better equipped to navigate the modern content landscape.
