India to Host International Workshop on 6G Standardisation

The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), part of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the Government of India, is set to host an International Workshop on 6G Standardisation on March 18, 2026, at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. This event reflects India’s commitment to becoming a key player in the global landscape of sixth generation (6G) telecommunications technologies. With an eye on the Government’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the Bharat 6G Vision, the workshop aims to establish India as a pioneer in the development, design, and deployment of 6G technologies by the year 2030.

The workshop will convene top experts from various sectors, including government, academia, industry, and international standardisation bodies. They will discuss the advancing global roadmap for 6G technology and aim to bolster India’s active participation in global standards development, ensuring that the nation plays a significant role in shaping future telecommunications.

Key Officials to Address the Workshop

Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the Union Minister of Communications and Minister for the Development of North Eastern Region, will inaugurate the event, delivering the inaugural address. Meanwhile, Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, the Minister of State for Communications and Minister of State for Rural Development, will provide a special address during the workshop.

The event is expected to attract senior officials from the Department of Telecommunications, representatives from various international telecom organizations, industry leaders, and prominent technology experts, along with members of the research community. Together, they will explore critical aspects of the burgeoning 6G ecosystem.
