This gathering brought together District Collectors and Divisional Commissioners from across the state, emphasizing the importance of community participation in sustainable water management.
The meeting, organized by the National Water Mission in collaboration with state authorities, was held to evaluate progress and strategize the implementation of JSJB 2.0. High-ranking officials from the Department of Water Resources were present, including Shri V. L. Kantha Rao, Smt. Archana Verma, and others who play vital roles in the state’s water conservation efforts.
Progress and Achievements
During the meeting, collectors from Khandwa, Rajgarh, and Indore presented their district-level achievements and outlined future plans for JSJB 2.0. Their reports showcased extensive initiatives focused on groundwater recharge, river revitalization, and engaging local communities in water conservation.
Madhya Pradesh previously excelled under the first phase of JSJB, securing the fourth position nationally, with Khandwa district earning the top rank in the country. This success highlights effective local leadership and active community involvement in water conservation efforts.
Community Engagement and Future Plans
Among the state’s noteworthy initiatives is the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, which aims to mobilize communities in protecting water bodies and reviving rivers. He emphasized that districts like Khandwa set examples by successfully involving communities in revitalizing rivers and conserving water.
The minister also noted the contributions from the business community in other states, highlighting the Karmabhoomi Se Matribhoomi Abhiyan, which extends support to Madhya Pradesh’s water conservation endeavors.
To maximize resources, Patil encouraged all districts to utilize the funds allocated under MGNREGA for water conservation projects effectively, particularly ahead of the monsoon season.
