India Launches Call for Startups in Ayurvedic Innovation

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), part of the Ministry of Ayush, has initiated a nationwide Call for Expression of Interest (EoI) aimed at startups under its Ayurvedic Sciences Incubation Centre (ASIC) located in Bengaluru. This move is part of the Ministry’s effort to bolster entrepreneurial ventures in Ayurveda through structured mentorship, funding, and regulatory support under the flagship program “Startup Incubation through Ayush Institutions.”

Empowering Ayurvedic Entrepreneurs

ASIC is designed to be a driving force for innovative growth in the Ayush sector. It creates a dynamic ecosystem where entrepreneurs can connect with researchers, investors, and industry leaders. The goal is to enhance research-based product development and encourage the commercialization of novel Ayurvedic solutions, positioning India as a leader in evidence-based traditional medicine.

Government Support for Traditional Medicine

During the announcement, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State for Ayush, emphasized the government’s commitment to nurturing innovation in traditional medicine under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He stated, “The Ayurvedic Sciences Incubation Centre at CARI, Bengaluru, will empower young innovators to transform classical knowledge into modern healthcare solutions, establishing India as a global hub for integrative healthcare.”

Focus on High-Quality Ayurveda Products

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, noted that ASIC is a testament to the Indian government’s focus on developing a robust startup ecosystem in Ayurveda. By offering scientific mentorship and regulatory assistance, they aim to accelerate the development of high-quality, research-backed Ayurvedic products that align with global standards.

Director General Highlights Research Strength

Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, highlighted that CARI, Bengaluru, has a strong background in clinical research and drug standardization. He encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to use this opportunity to advance innovative solutions in Ayurveda. Dr. Sulochana Bhat, Head of CARI, echoed this, reassuring that the institute is dedicated to helping startups develop scientifically validated, competitive Ayurvedic solutions.
