Milestone Chintan Shivir Set to Transform Minority Affairs

The Ministry of Minority Affairs is set to convene a transformative two-day event known as ‘Chintan Shivir’ at Nalanda University, Rajgir, Bihar on February 18-19, 2026. This significant gathering will bring together Union Minister of Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, along with Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Shri George Kurian, and various state ministers and senior officials. The primary focus will be to discuss pressing issues that affect minority communities and develop an action-oriented roadmap aimed at their socio-economic advancement.

Key Participants and Thematic Discussions

The event will see the involvement of state and Union Territory ministers such as Shri Adv Kento Jini from Arunachal Pradesh; Shri Imkongmar from Nagaland; Shri Samdup Lepcha from Sikkim; Shri Sukla Charan Noatia from Tripura; and MD Zama Khan from Bihar, in addition to numerous senior officials from both the Ministry and state governments.

During the Chintan Shivir, five pivotal themes will guide the discussions, focusing on areas crucial for the welfare of minority communities. These themes include:

  • Infrastructure Development (Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram – PMJVK)
  • Socio-economic Empowerment (PMVIKAS and National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation)
  • Waqf Management
  • Haj Management

These discussions will foster collaboration among stakeholders, promoting peer learning and solutions focused on overcoming implementation challenges and identifying best practices.

Innovative Technology Launch

On the second day, February 19, the ceremonial sessions will feature the launch of three innovative digital initiatives designed to enhance project management and improve services for minority communities:

  • PMJVK Mobile Application – A tool for effective project monitoring and increased transparency.
  • Haj Suvidha Smart Wrist Band – A safety measure aimed at improving the experience of Haj pilgrims.
  • AI-Powered Chatbot – An online assistant available on the Ministry’s portal to resolve queries and assist citizens.

Event Schedule and Cultural Significance

The Chintan Shivir will kick off with briefing sessions and thematic presentations on its first day, culminating in a cultural program that highlights Bihar’s rich heritage. Day two will start with a yoga session, followed by the inaugural ceremony featuring ministers from both central and state governments. The day is dedicated to in-depth discussions and the formulation of actionable recommendations for future policies.

Nalanda University is fittingly chosen as the venue, symbolizing India’s commitment to learning and dialogue. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it echoes the ancient values of knowledge-sharing and inclusivity, reinforcing the objectives of the Chintan Shivir while providing a historic backdrop for conversations centered on minority welfare.

This comprehensive two-day event is anticipated to generate actionable strategies that will enhance the implementation of current programs, introduce innovative solutions to challenges faced by minority groups, and establish improved inter-governmental coordination, ultimately contributing to the broader socio-economic development goals of the nation.
