RISE Conclave 2026: A Catalyst for Innovation and Growth

The two-day Research–Industry–Startup–Entrepreneurship (RISE) Conclave 2026 wrapped up today at the Chennai Trade Centre, successfully uniting influential figures from academia, research institutions, industry, and the startup ecosystem. This event underscored the Government’s ongoing dedication to promoting innovation-driven growth and advancing the application of scientific research in alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

A Vital Gathering for India’s Future

RISE 2026 stands as a landmark event that highlighted the interconnectedness of research, industry, startups, and entrepreneurship. These four pillars are essential for India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. The conclave was inaugurated on February 14, 2026, by the Hon’ble Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh. He emphasized the crucial role startups play in driving innovation and enhancing the research-industry ecosystem in India. During the inauguration, the Minister also launched the Startup Expo and engaged with attending entrepreneurs.

Showcasing Innovation at the Startup Expo

One of the key highlights of RISE 2026 was the Startup Expo, featuring over 100 startups connected to technologies forged in CSIR laboratories, including CSIR-CLRI, CSIR-CECRI, and CSIR-SERC. This expo presented groundbreaking innovations in areas such as advanced materials, electrochemical technologies, infrastructure systems, sustainable manufacturing, and deep-tech solutions. It showcased the impactful contributions of CSIR’s technology transfer and commercialization initiatives.

Fostering Collaboration Through Thematic Sessions

The conclave included a variety of thematic sessions designed to enhance collaboration among different sectors. A notable Panel Discussion on Science Communication explored the significance of effective outreach in nurturing scientific curiosity and increasing public engagement with research and innovation. Another discussion focused on Academy–Institute–Industry Partnerships, addressing the collaborative frameworks required to expedite technology translation, commercialization, and the delivery of industry-ready solutions.

Expert Insights and Final Recognitions

The program featured Industry Talks led by experts from various fields who shared valuable insights on topics like systems engineering, product development, engineered construction solutions, and entrepreneurial journeys. These conversations reiterated the importance of sustained collaboration between research and industry and highlighted the need for integrated innovation ecosystems to bolster India’s scientific and technological capabilities.

In the concluding session, notable leaders including Dr. P. Thanikaivelan, Director of CSIR-CLRI, Dr. N. Anandavalli, Director of CSIR-SERC, and Dr. K. Ramesha, Director of CSIR-CECRI, presented awards to outstanding startups and students. Dr. K.J. Sreeram, an Outstanding Scientist and former Director of CSIR-CLRI, delivered the vote of thanks.

The successful conclusion of RISE Conclave 2026 marks a significant milestone in fostering robust partnerships among research institutions, industry, and startups, ultimately promoting technology commercialization, entrepreneurship, and innovation-led growth in line with national priorities.
