India Energy Week 2026 Set to Spotlight Global Energy Innovations

India is gearing up for the highly anticipated India Energy Week (IEW) 2026, scheduled from January 27 to 30 at the ONGC ATI in Goa. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, announced today that this significant event will convene global energy ministers, industry leaders, policymakers, financial institutions, academia, and technology providers. Highlighting its role as the first major international energy gathering of the year, IEW 2026 aims to enhance energy security, spark investments, and promote practical pathways for decarbonization.

Speaking at the press conference, Shri Puri emphasized the impressive growth of IEW since its inception. The inaugural event in 2023 attracted around 30,000 delegates and 316 exhibitors. This number surged to over 45,000 participants in 2024 and reached approximately 68,000 in 2025. IEW 2026 is projected to set a new record with over 75,000 delegates and more than 600 exhibitors, including 180 international participants, along with over 500 global speakers and more than 120 conference sessions.

A Global Platform for Energy Dialogue

With the participation of 17 Ministers and Deputy Ministers from countries such as the UAE, Canada, Netherlands, Oman, Brunei, Myanmar, and Tanzania, along with representatives from key international organizations like the International Energy Forum and BIMSTEC, the Minister noted IEW’s importance as a global dialogue platform. The exhibition will feature 11 thematic zones, covering diverse topics such as digitalization, AI, renewable energy, and biofuels, alongside new zones concentrated on nuclear energy and sustainable aviation fuel.

Strategic Themes and Engaging Discussions

The conference at IEW 2026 will revolve around 10 strategic themes, reflecting both global priorities and India’s emerging leadership in the energy landscape. It will include four ministerial sessions and 47 leadership panels with industry experts. Additionally, the event will host five Energy Talks that provide in-depth discussions between senior global energy leaders on technology and sustainability.

Focus on Indigenization and Collaboration

Emphasizing governmental support for domestic manufacturing, Shri Puri revealed plans for a dedicated Make in India Pavilion, spearheaded by Engineers India Limited. This initiative aims to foster collaboration with MSMEs and startups, reinforcing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The pavilion will also feature daily Energy Talks showcasing technology advancements and sustainability efforts, while 11 country pavilions—including Japan, the US, and Germany—will facilitate international collaboration.

Business Agreements and High-Level Engagements

IEW 2026 aims for significant business outcomes, with numerous agreements planned for signing. Notable deals include shipbuilding contracts involving ONGC and Japanese and South Korean companies, a collaboration between BPCL and Petrobras for crude oil supply, and partnerships focusing on LNG sourcing and sustainable aviation fuel production in Odisha. High-level engagement is a key component, with the Prime Minister’s Roundtable set to engage global CEOs and leaders from major energy companies.

Innovation and Knowledge Sharing

The event will promote innovation and participation from startups through initiatives like Avinya 2026, the Startup Challenge, and a Hackathon Challenge targeting critical energy issues. Key knowledge products, including a white paper on biofuels financing and the India Bioenergy Outlook 2030, will also be launched to aid informed decision-making in energy sectors.
