During the meeting, Minister Chaudhary emphasized the necessity of collaborative efforts among government, industry, academia, and training institutions to enhance AI capabilities nationwide. He stated, “Building AI capabilities at scale requires deep collaboration between government, industry, academia and training institutions. Through consultations like these, we are strengthening industry co-ownership in skilling, promoting flexible learning pathways, and ensuring that our training systems remain responsive to real-world demand.”
A multi-stakeholder consultation followed the meeting, focusing on India’s challenge in developing AI talent. Industry leaders, regulators, and educators collectively aimed to enhance policy alignment with industry demands in developing a future-ready workforce. Discussions recognized the need for continuous skilling and reskilling, responding to the rapidly evolving demands in the digital economy.
Key takeaways included the actionable need to develop talent throughout the AI value chain, from foundational education to sector-specific applications in areas such as healthcare and manufacturing. The consultation underscored the importance of responsible AI use while recognizing MSDE’s progress in expanding AI skilling programs. Initiatives aimed at fostering early AI literacy among students and building a robust talent pipeline were especially highlighted.
Participants stressed the transition from fragmented initiatives to a more unified, outcome-focused approach to enhance MSDE’s systems and frameworks. New collaborative opportunities in curriculum design, as well as initiatives for practical training experiences through apprenticeships, were identified as critical areas for development.
The meeting concluded with a consensus on strengthening MSDE’s experience in AI and digital skilling to lay the groundwork for future actions. Proposed priorities included the introduction of foundational AI modules in vocational training, upgrading institutional infrastructure, and deepening partnerships with industry players.
