Preparations Underway for 814th Urs at Ajmer Dargah

The Ministry of Minority Affairs convened a crucial review meeting in Ajmer today to finalize preparations for the upcoming 814th Urs of Dargah Khwaja Saheb, set to commence on December 17, 2025. This annual event is expected to attract thousands of pilgrims (Ziyareens), and the meeting’s primary focus was on ensuring their safety, security, and overall convenience throughout the celebration.

Officials from the Ministry highlighted the significance of effective coordination among various agencies to guarantee a peaceful and orderly event. Essential arrangements, including security measures and amenities, were critically assessed to enhance the experience for all attendees.

Key Arrangements Reviewed

During the meeting, a range of key preparations was discussed. Plans include the installation of CCTV cameras in strategic locations, ensuring an ample supply of drinking water and toilet facilities, and establishing adequate parking options. The administration is also committed to maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, implementing effective crowd management strategies, and addressing the issue of stray animals in the Dargah Khwaja Saheb vicinity.

The District Administration assured that all necessary measures are being implemented, and all concerned departments have been instructed to be fully prepared as the event approaches. Regular monitoring will be essential during the Urs to swiftly tackle any emerging concerns.

A Tradition of Respect

Reflecting India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi continues a time-honored tradition of sending a Chadar each year to be offered at the Dargah Khwaja Saheb. This gesture serves as a testament to the significant role the Urs plays within the nation’s diverse communities.

Field Review of Accommodation Facilities

Ministry officials also undertook a field review, visiting Ashray Sthali (Musafirkhana)—a resting camp being constructed on approximately 150 bigha of land on the outskirts of Ajmer. The purpose of this camp is to provide comfortable accommodation and convenience for the Ziyareens throughout the Urs celebrations.

The Ministry expressed its satisfaction with the preparations reported by the District Administration, reinforcing the importance of continuous monitoring during the Urs period. The meeting was led by Shri S. P. Singh Teotia, Director of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, and included participation from District Administration officials and representatives from the Dargah Khwaja Saheb.
