Scene 1: Getting to the Competition and Unexpected Help
The episode opened with Mangal desperately trying to catch an auto-rickshaw to reach her cooking competition venue on time. She stood by the roadside waving at multiple vehicles, but none of them stopped to pick her up. “I’m going to be late for the competition if I don’t find transportation soon. This is such an important day for me, and I can’t afford to miss it,” she thought anxiously as she continued trying to flag down passing autos. Just when her situation seemed hopeless, Adit arrived in his car at the perfect moment.
“Mangal, I can see you’re having trouble getting to the competition venue. Let me drop you there so you won’t be late,” he offered kindly. At first, Mangal hesitated to accept his help because she didn’t want to inconvenience him or create any awkwardness. “Thank you for the offer, Adit, but I don’t want to trouble you. I’ll find another way to get there,” she replied politely. However, Adit insisted that helping her was no trouble at all and that he wanted to make sure she reached the competition on time. “Please don’t worry about troubling me. It’s important that you reach there on time, and I’m happy to help,” he said genuinely. Finally, Mangal accepted his generous offer, and he successfully dropped her at the competition venue with time to spare.
“Thank you so much for bringing me here on time, Adit. I really appreciate your help when I needed it most,” Mangal said gratefully before heading into the competition building. After Mangal left, Adit noticed something interesting in the parking area. “Why is my boss’s car parked here at the Pehla Swad competition venue? That’s quite a coincidence,” he wondered as he recognized the familiar vehicle.
Scene 2: Kitchen Accident and Competition Disaster
Meanwhile, at home, Kusum was busy with her household cleaning tasks and had decided to organize the cupboard thoroughly. She climbed onto a stool to reach the higher shelves and clean them properly. While she was focused on her cleaning work, her phone started ringing from somewhere in the house. “Let me finish this part quickly and then answer the phone,” she thought as she tried to complete her current task. However, when Kusum stepped down from the stool to go answer her phone, disaster struck. The floor was slippery from the soapy water she had been using for cleaning, and she lost her footing completely.
“Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up properly,” she called out as she hit the ground hard and injured herself in the fall. Realizing she was hurt and couldn’t move easily, Kusum decided she needed to call someone for immediate help and medical attention. At the competition venue, Bhabhiji was explaining the next challenge to all the contestants. “In today’s round, you will be working with wood as your main ingredient. Wood can be used to prepare several different types of dishes, and your challenge is to create three completely different dishes using the same wood ingredient,” she announced.
She continued explaining the rules and time constraints. “You have exactly one hour to complete all three dishes, and they must be so different from each other that no one would be able to guess they’re made from the same basic ingredient.” Mangal immediately took charge of her team and began organizing their strategy. “Everyone needs to stay prepared for this round and avoid making any mistakes. We need to work efficiently and help each other,” she instructed her teammates. She then gave specific guidance to Rithu and Diya about their individual responsibilities. “Rithu, you focus on the first dish, and Diya, you handle the second one. I’ll take care of the third dish, and we’ll coordinate everything together.”
Just then, Sowmya’s phone started ringing with a call from Kusum, but Sowmya looked at the caller ID and deliberately chose to ignore the call. Mangal noticed Kusum’s name flashing on Sowmya’s phone screen and realized this might be important. “That’s my mother-in-law calling. Let me answer it in case there’s an emergency,” she said as she picked up Sowmya’s phone. In her injured and painful condition, Kusum spoke into the phone thinking she was talking to Sowmya. “Sowmya, I fell down badly and I’m hurt. Please come home quickly because I need help,” she said weakly. Mangal tried to respond and let Kusum know it was her on the phone, but the connection became unclear and the call quality was poor. Kusum couldn’t hear Mangal’s responses clearly and stopped talking.
Mangal became very worried about her mother-in-law’s condition and wanted to call Kusum back immediately on her own phone. However, when she reached for her phone, Bhabhiji stopped her with a stern reminder. “It’s completely against the competition rules to use phones during the cooking round. Put that phone away immediately,” she commanded firmly. This left Mangal in a terrible position, worrying about her mother while being unable to contact her during the competition.
Scene 3: Cooking Mistake and Difficult Decision
Mangal’s mind was completely occupied with concern for Kusum’s safety and health, making it nearly impossible for her to concentrate on the cooking competition. Diya noticed that Mangal seemed distracted and tried to remind her about their time constraints. “Mangal, we need to cook faster if we want to finish all three dishes within the time limit,” she urged. But Mangal’s worry about her mother-in-law was so overwhelming that she made a serious mistake while cooking. Lost in her thoughts about Kusum’s accident, she placed her dish in the oven without removing the aluminum foil that was covering it.
Within minutes, thick smoke began pouring out of the oven, creating a dangerous situation in the kitchen. The competition organizers immediately stopped the cooking process when they saw the smoke. “Everyone stop cooking right now! There’s smoke coming from one of the ovens,” they announced urgently. Bhabhiji was furious about this safety violation and demanded to know who was responsible. “Which contestant placed a dish in the oven without removing the aluminum foil? This is a serious safety hazard,” she asked angrily.
Mangal knew she had to take responsibility for her mistake and honestly admitted what had happened. “I’m sorry, Bhabhiji. I made that mistake with the aluminum foil. I apologize for creating a dangerous situation,” she said remorsefully. Bhabhiji was not satisfied with just an apology and wanted to understand why such an experienced cook would make such a basic error. “Have you completely lost focus on what you’re doing here? How could you make such a fundamental mistake?” she demanded. Mangal explained the personal crisis that had distracted her.
“I received a call from my mother-in-law, and her health seems to be in serious danger. I’m extremely worried about her condition,” she said honestly. This explanation only made Bhabhiji more angry, and she accused Mangal of creating drama. “Stop creating unnecessary drama in every single round of this competition. Do you even want to stay here and compete, or are you just wasting everyone’s time?” she asked harshly. The combination of worry about Kusum and frustration with Bhabhiji’s harsh treatment became too much for Mangal to handle. “No, I don’t want to stay here anymore. I need to go home and take care of my family,” she declared as she started to leave the competition area.
However, Bhabhiji stopped her from leaving with a stern warning about the consequences. “This is my kitchen, and no one leaves without my explicit permission. If you quit this competition now, there will be serious consequences that you’ll regret,” she threatened. Mangal was determined to prioritize her family over the competition. “Something serious has happened to my mother, and I cannot stay here while she needs help. My family comes first,” she said firmly. Sowmya, who had been listening to this conversation, finally understood what was happening. “So Kusum was trying to call me because she was in trouble. Well, if Mangal is going home anyway, then Mangal can take care of her, so I don’t need to worry about it,” she thought selfishly.
Scene 4: Family Care and Competition Return
Adit was curious about why his boss’s car was at the competition venue and decided to investigate. He called his colleague to get more information about the situation. “Can you tell me why our boss’s car is parked at the Pehla Swad competition venue? Is there some business connection I should know about?” he asked. His colleague provided the answer he was looking for. “Yes, our boss has taken on the Pehla Swad assignment as a new project. That’s why he’s there today,” the colleague explained, clearing up the mystery.
When Mangal reached home, she immediately started searching for Kusum throughout the house. “Amma, where are you? Are you okay?” she called out as she checked different rooms. Her worst fears were confirmed when she found Kusum lying unconscious and injured on the floor where she had fallen. “Oh no, Amma is badly hurt. I need to get medical help immediately,” Mangal said as she quickly called for a doctor. After the doctor arrived and provided initial treatment for Kusum’s injuries, the family gathered to discuss her condition and care. Adit was concerned about how the accident had happened. “Why was Amma doing heavy cleaning work by herself? She could have asked for help,” he wondered.
Sudesh explained what had occurred during his brief absence. “I went out for just a short while to handle some errands, and this accident happened while I was away. I feel terrible about not being here,” he said with regret. Sowmya tried to appear caring and concerned in front of Adit. “Don’t worry too much, Adit. These accidents can happen to anyone,” she said, though her concern wasn’t genuine. The doctor provided important information about Kusum’s condition and recovery needs. “Kusum needs complete bed rest because the injury she sustained is quite deep and will take time to heal properly. She shouldn’t be doing any physical work for several days,” he advised the family.
Mangal immediately made a commitment to provide the necessary care. “I promise I will take good care of her and make sure she gets the rest she needs to recover fully,” she assured everyone. When Kusum regained consciousness, both Mangal and Sowmya rushed to her bedside. However, Sowmya quickly reached for Kusum’s hand before Mangal could hold it, pretending to be the most concerned family member. “Amma, I’m so sorry I didn’t answer your calls earlier. I feel terrible that you were in trouble and I wasn’t available to help you,” Sowmya said with fake emotion. Adit tried to comfort Sowmya about her guilt. “Don’t blame yourself, Sowmya. You couldn’t have known this would happen,” he said kindly.
Sowmya continued her act of being a devoted daughter-in-law. “Even though I’m not feeling well myself, I’m ready to take care of Amma and make sure she recovers properly,” she offered. However, Mangal insisted on taking the primary responsibility for Kusum’s care. “Sowmya, you should focus on taking care of your own health. I will take care of Amma with the help of father-in-law Sudesh. We can manage everything together,” she said practically. After Sowmya and Adit left, Mangal spent the entire night taking care of Kusum, making sure she was comfortable and had everything she needed. The next morning, Mangal prepared tea for Sudesh and updated him on Kusum’s condition.
“I’ve prepared everything that Amma will need for today, including her medicines and meals,” she informed him. Sudesh was deeply grateful for Mangal’s sacrifice and dedication. “Thank you so much for leaving the competition to take care of Amma all night. Your commitment to this family means everything to us,” he said with sincere appreciation. He then encouraged Mangal to return to the competition. “Now that Amma is stable, you should go back to the competition and continue pursuing your dreams. I’ll watch over her while you’re gone,” he assured her. Mangal agreed and prepared to return to the venue, hoping it wasn’t too late to continue in the competition.
When Mangal entered the competition venue wearing her cooking uniform, she was hopeful that she could resume her participation. However, Bhabhiji had other plans and demonstrated her displeasure with Mangal’s previous departure. As Mangal reached for her cooking hat to begin working, Bhabhiji threw a knife at the cap, preventing Mangal from putting it on. This dramatic gesture made it clear that Mangal’s return to the competition would not be smooth or easy.
