Scene 1: Battle Challenge and Missed Opportunities
Kartikeya stood before Raavan and issued a direct challenge for combat. “Come and fight with me,” he called out boldly to the demon king. “Let us settle this matter through battle.” However, Raavan responded with a threatening declaration that revealed his deadly intentions. “Today will not be a day of fair fighting,” he announced ominously. “Instead, today will be the day when Kartikeya meets his death at my hands.” He continued his menacing words as he prepared to attack. “This sacred place will be completely covered with Kartikeya’s blood before this day is over,” he said while moving aggressively toward his opponent. Raavan raised his weapon and attempted to strike Kartikeya with lethal force, intending to kill rather than engage in honorable combat.
But as the attack was about to begin, Kartikeya noticed something important happening in the sky above them. “Look, the sun is rising,” he observed with relief. “The night has ended, and morning has arrived.” This astronomical event had significant implications for Raavan’s plans. “Now you cannot ask for any boon from Mahadev,” Kartikeya pointed out. “The sacred time for making such requests has passed with the darkness.” Raavan acknowledged that his opportunity to request a divine boon had indeed ended with the sunrise. “You are correct that I can no longer ask Mahadev for what I wanted,” he admitted. “But that doesn’t change the fact that I can still kill you here and now.” He continued his assault, determined to eliminate Kartikeya despite missing his chance for the divine blessing.
“Your death will satisfy me even if I cannot have Mahadev,” he declared as he pressed his attack. Just as the situation was becoming extremely dangerous for Kartikeya, Mahadev himself arrived at the scene and intervened to stop Raavan’s violent assault. “Halt your attack immediately,” Mahadev commanded with divine authority. Raavan turned to face Mahadev and pleaded for permission to continue his assault. “Please do not stop me from completing this task,” he begged. “Kartikeya trapped me using maya and deception, preventing me from achieving my goal.” He continued his accusations against Kartikeya. “This is exactly what the Devtas always do to Asurs – they use trickery and deceit instead of fighting fairly.” Kartikeya defended himself against these serious allegations.
“What kind of trick or deception did I use against you?” he asked directly. “What rules of fair combat did I break during our encounter?” He then reminded Raavan of his own use of illusion. “You were the first one to use maya in our conflict, so you cannot accuse me of cheating.” But Raavan refused to accept this logic and continued demanding Kartikeya’s death. “Don’t try to confuse me with your words,” he said angrily. “You deserve to die for what you have done to me.”
Scene 2: Divine Justice and Departure
Mahadev decided to remind Raavan of his original purpose for coming to Kailash. “Think carefully about why you came here in the first place,” he asked the demon king. “Did you come to ask for a divine boon from me, or did you come here to kill someone?” He then explained why Raavan’s current actions were morally wrong. “If you try to kill anyone now, your actions will be considered adharm because you want to murder Kartikeya out of nothing but arrogance and pride,” Mahadev pointed out. “Your desire for violence comes from ego, not from any righteous cause.” This divine judgment made it clear that Raavan’s behavior was unacceptable. Faced with Mahadev’s moral authority and unable to go against the supreme deity, Raavan had no choice but to abandon his violent plans.
“I cannot act against your wishes, Mahadev,” he said reluctantly. With great frustration and disappointment, Raavan left Kailash without achieving either of his goals – he had neither received the boon he wanted nor killed his enemy. After Raavan’s departure, Mahadev approached Kartikeya to offer assistance and check on his condition. “Let me help you recover from this confrontation,” Mahadev offered kindly. However, Kartikeya politely declined his father’s help. “I appreciate that you thought to help me,” he said respectfully. “But I can take care of myself and handle my own recovery.” He then expressed his gratitude for the intervention. “Thank you for stopping Raavan’s attack and preventing unnecessary violence,” he said before leaving the area to return to Kailash.
Scene 3: Family Confrontations and Painful Questions
When Kartikeya entered Kailash, he found Devsena waiting for him with strong emotions about what had transpired. “I cannot hide what I am feeling about this entire situation,” she declared to Shiv Shakti. “I need to speak the truth about my concerns.” She then expressed her fears about how close she had come to losing her husband. “I would have become a widow today if things had gone differently,” she said with distress. “Kartikeya risked his life for the happiness and safety of Kailash, but what did he receive in return?” Her next words revealed her disappointment with Mahadev’s response to the crisis.
“Why did Mahadev not speak a single word against Raavan’s behavior?” she demanded. “Why was he completely silent when his own son was in mortal danger?” Devi Parvati tried to calm Devsena’s emotional outburst. “Please control your anger and speak more calmly,” she advised gently. But Devsena was not ready to be pacified and continued her questioning. “Were you comfortable with Mahadev’s silence during this crisis?” she asked Devi Parvati directly. “Do you think I was wrong to question his actions or lack of action?” She then challenged Mahadev’s behavior more directly. Devi Parvati acknowledged that Devsena’s concerns were legitimate. “Your question is not wrong,” she told her daughter-in-law. “You have the right to seek answers about what happened.” This support encouraged Devsena to continue her confrontation. “Please break your silence and explain your behavior,” she demanded of Mahadev. “We deserve to understand why you acted as you did.”
Before Mahadev could respond, Kartikeya intervened to stop his wife’s questioning. “Keep quiet and do not challenge my father,” he told Devsena firmly. He then addressed his parents with a formal declaration about his role and future plans. “Protecting Kailash was my responsibility as your son and devotee,” he explained. “I have fulfilled that duty successfully.” However, his next words shocked everyone present. “Now I believe it is time for Devsena and me to leave Kailash permanently,” he announced. This declaration of departure stunned both Mahadev and Devi Parvati, who had not expected their son to make such a drastic decision based on the day’s events.
Scene 4: Maternal Loss and Family Separation
Meanwhile, Raavan was struggling with his failure to achieve his goals at Kailash. “Why was I unable to obtain Mahadev as I planned?” he asked himself in frustration. “All my efforts and planning have come to nothing.” Despite his disappointment, he remained determined not to give up. “I will not accept this defeat,” he declared defiantly. “This setback will not stop me from pursuing my ultimate objective.” At that moment, Kaikasi arrived to see her son, and Raavan greeted her with respect and affection. However, he immediately noticed something troubling about her demeanor. “Why don’t you look happy, mother?” he asked with concern. “I won Lanka for you and made you the Rajmata, yet you seem troubled instead of joyful.”
Kaikasi’s response revealed the true purpose of her visit. “I have come to meet you for the last time,” she told him sadly. This statement alarmed Raavan, who demanded to know what was wrong. “What has happened that makes you speak of final meetings?” he asked anxiously. Kaikasi then delivered a painful truth about his motivations and actions. “You did not win Lanka for me,” she told him directly. “You conquered it for yourself and your own ambitions.” This accusation hit Raavan harder than any physical blow he had ever received. “I have faced accusations and criticism from many people throughout my life,” he replied with pain. “But I cannot tolerate hearing such words from you, my own mother.”
He tried to defend his actions and explain his true intentions. “I won Lanka for our people and our family,” he insisted. “Everything I did was for the welfare of those I care about.” However, Kaikasi was not convinced by his explanations and prepared to leave without reconciliation. After his mother departed, Raavan broke down and cried, overwhelmed by the emotional pain of her rejection. “I will continue fighting no matter what obstacles I face,” he vowed through his tears. “Neither failure nor family rejection will stop me from pursuing my destiny.” Back in Kailash, the family conflict continued as Devi Parvati pleaded with Kartikeya to reconsider his decision to leave. “Don’t go away from us like this,” she begged her son. “There must be another way to resolve these problems.” Ganesh supported his mother’s plea by reminding his brother of family obligations. “Children should never abandon their parents,” he said earnestly.
“Family bonds should not be broken over misunderstandings.” However, Kartikeya revealed the deeper pain behind his decision to leave. “I am merely Mahadev’s weapon, not his beloved son,” he said bitterly. “That is why he remained silent and did not speak against Raavan’s threats.” This statement revealed how hurt and disappointed he felt by his father’s apparent lack of support during the crisis. “If I am just a tool to be used when needed, then I have no place in this family,” he concluded sadly.
