APEDA Highlights India’s Agricultural and Food Export Capabilities at World Food India 2025

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) recently showcased India’s agricultural prowess as the Export Partner at the 4th edition of World Food India (WFI) 2025, held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The event featured 142 exhibitors and 120 stalls, highlighting a wide array of agri-food products, including GI-tagged items, Basmati rice, and organic produce. APEDA also organized a Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet, attracting over 530 international buyers and facilitating thousands of business meetings, thereby enhancing India’s position in the global food market.

Showcasing India’s Agri-Food Diversity

At WFI 2025, APEDA’s pavilion stood out with its impressive display of India’s diverse agri-food sector. The pavilion included dedicated thematic zones such as the GI Gallery, Fresca Zone, and a stall from the Basmati Export Development Foundation. It also featured the BHARTI Zone, which focused on startups and innovation in the agricultural sector. This strategic showcase aimed to promote various products, including livestock and value-added foods, to a global audience. The event not only highlighted the richness of Indian agriculture but also aimed to foster international collaborations and partnerships in the agri-food domain.

International Engagement and Business Opportunities

A significant highlight of the event was the Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM), which attracted more than 530 buyers from 68 countries. Notable supermarket chains such as Walmart and Nesto participated, creating a vibrant platform for Indian exporters and startups. Over 4,654 B2B meetings were conducted, allowing participants to explore new markets and establish long-term business relationships. This engagement underscores the importance of international collaboration in expanding India’s agri-food exports and enhancing its global market presence.

Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives

In a move to strengthen global market access, APEDA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LuLu Hypermarket LLC on September 25, 2025. This partnership, part of the BHARTI Initiative, aims to provide Indian agri-food startups with shelf space in 252 LuLu outlets across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The collaboration will also include product sampling campaigns and consumer engagement activities, further facilitating the distribution of Indian products on a global scale. The BHARTI Initiative was prominently featured at WFI 2025, showcasing its commitment to empowering agri-food ventures through mentorship and technology adoption.

Commitment to Innovation and Sustainable Growth

APEDA’s participation in World Food India 2025 reflects its dedication to building a competitive agri-food export sector. Chairman Shri Abhishek Dev emphasized the event’s success in connecting over 140 exhibitors with more than 500 international buyers, creating numerous business opportunities. The combination of the Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet, the MoU with LuLu Hypermarket, and the BHARTI Initiative illustrates APEDA’s commitment to fostering innovation and strengthening international partnerships. Through these efforts, APEDA aims to position India as a trusted partner in global food trade, driving sustainable and innovation-led growth in the agri-food sector.
