BRICS Ministers Unite in Jaipur to Boost Industrial Cooperation
The Tenth BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting concluded today in Jaipur, Rajasthan, under India’s 2026 Chairship. This pivotal gathering brought together industry ministers and high-level representatives from BRICS member nations to enhance collaboration within the framework of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR).
Themed “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” the meeting served as a vital platform for member countries to discuss ways to strengthen industrial capacities, leverage technological advancements, and create collaborative opportunities.
During the opening remarks, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, welcomed delegates to Jaipur, a city that beautifully merges its rich craftsmanship with contemporary industrial ambitions. He stressed the importance of transforming aspirations into practical innovations and cooperative efforts. Goyal emphasized that BRICS countries should capitalize on their complementary strengths to foster resilient industries, noting that PartNIR has become the cornerstone for such collaboration.
Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Shri Jitin Prasada, echoed India’s dedication to nurturing robust industrial partnerships within BRICS. He highlighted the significance of innovation, cooperation, and mutual trust as essential elements for building an inclusive industrial landscape.
Reflecting on the BRICS journey that began with the inaugural summit in Yekaterinburg, Russia, in 2009, Goyal acknowledged Brazil’s leadership during its Chairship in 2025 and reiterated India’s commitment to advancing this legacy through a proactive and pragmatic approach. He noted that the current Chairship aims to ensure continuity while instilling confidence among businesses and investors, ultimately leading to practical cooperation and measurable outcomes for all BRICS members.
Goyal shared updates on the significant progress achieved during India’s Chairship, highlighting discussions among the Advisory Group and thematic Working Groups focused on four priority areas. These included finalizing the Framework for Cooperation in the SME Working Group and the Action Plan on innovation-led growth by Startups. The meeting also highlighted the need for resilient industry transport and logistics systems.
A key outcome of the meeting was the adoption of the Joint Declaration of the Tenth BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting. This declaration signifies the collective commitment of member nations to move past dialogue and towards implementing practical cooperation mechanisms that enhance industries and improve lives.
Throughout the meeting, Industry Ministers and Heads of Delegation shared national perspectives, emphasizing major policy initiatives and accomplishments in industrial development. Their statements exhibited a unified commitment to bolstering industrial capabilities, accelerating technological transformation, and cultivating resilient industrial ecosystems while working together to tackle common development challenges.
Looking ahead, India is gearing up to host the 16th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur on August 7, 2026. This meeting will follow the earlier BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues. Goyal, along with other senior officials, will lead discussions centered on international trade and economic cooperation.
Under the overarching theme of resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability, the Trade Ministers Meeting is poised to contribute significantly to fostering resilient supply chains and supporting a robust multilateral trading system, ultimately aligning with India’s vision for a developed nation by 2047.
