TRAI Evaluates Mobile Network Quality in Rewari City, Haryana

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has unveiled the results of an Independent Drive Test (IDT) conducted in Rewari City, Haryana, during July and August 2025. This comprehensive assessment aimed to evaluate the quality of mobile network services, including both voice and data, provided by various Telecom Service Providers (TSPs). The findings, which focus on key performance indicators such as call setup success rates and data speeds, are intended to inform consumers and motivate TSPs to enhance their services.

Overview of the Drive Test

The IDT was carried out by TRAI’s appointed agency over a span of 250.7 kilometers across Rewari City, including eight hotspot locations and a 1.1-kilometer walk test. Conducted from July 31 to August 2, 2025, the tests were supervised by the TRAI Regional Office in Jaipur. The drive test aimed to gather real-world performance data on various key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide a clear picture of the mobile network quality in the area. The results are crucial for both consumers seeking reliable service and TSPs aiming to improve their offerings.

Voice Service Performance

The IDT results highlighted several important metrics regarding voice services. The Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR) was notably high for Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) at 100%, while Airtel and Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) followed closely with 99.51% and 99.01%, respectively. In contrast, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) recorded a CSSR of 92.00%. The average call setup time varied among providers, with Airtel achieving the best average of 1.25 seconds, while BSNL had a longer average of 2.45 seconds. The Drop Call Rate (DCR) was lowest for RJIL at 0.49%, while BSNL recorded a DCR of 3.32%. These metrics are essential for consumers to gauge the reliability of voice services in Rewari.

Data Service Performance

The drive test also assessed data services, revealing significant differences in performance among the TSPs. The average download throughput was highest for RJIL at 172.58 Mbits/s, followed by Airtel at 103.06 Mbits/s. BSNL and VIL lagged behind with average download speeds of 4.66 Mbits/s and 27.41 Mbits/s, respectively. For upload speeds, RJIL again led with 14.20 Mbits/s, while Airtel recorded 19.16 Mbits/s. Latency, measured in milliseconds, was lowest for Airtel at 25.65 ms, indicating a more responsive network. These findings underscore the varying levels of data service quality available to consumers in Rewari.

Future Actions and Availability of Reports

The results of the IDT have been shared with the respective TSPs, prompting them to take necessary actions to enhance their network quality. TRAI aims to ensure that consumers are informed about the performance of mobile services in their area. Detailed reports of the IDT findings are accessible on the TRAI website at www.trai.gov.in. For further inquiries or additional information, consumers can contact TRAI’s Regional Office in Jaipur via email at adv.jaipur@trai.gov.in or by phone at +91-141-2701919. This initiative reflects TRAI’s commitment to improving telecommunications services across India.
