Kuno National Park Throws a Whimsical Mother’s Day Bash for Wildlife Moms!
In a delightful twist for Mother’s Day 2025, Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh shared a heartwarming video featuring new cheetah mothers and their playful cubs. The park has welcomed seven new cubs this year, thanks to the efforts of two South African cheetahs, Nirva and Veera, who were reintroduced to the park as part of Project Cheetah. This initiative aims to revive the cheetah population in India, and these new arrivals are a significant step forward.
New Additions to the Family
Cheetah Nirva gave birth to five cubs on April 28, while Veera welcomed two healthy cubs on April 17. With these new additions, Kuno National Park’s cheetah population has now reached 29, contributing to a total of 31 cheetahs in India. The video captures the nurturing instincts of these mothers, showcasing their dedication to their young ones.
A Glimpse into Cheetah Life
In the video, Veera is seen resting under a tree, keeping her two three-month-old cubs close. Despite her calm demeanor, she remains vigilant, ever watchful for potential threats. Meanwhile, Nirva is busy attending to her five newborn cubs, while other mothers like Jwala and Asha guide their older cubs in learning essential survival skills.
Celebrating Motherhood
The video was captioned with a touching message: “For the mom who gives without asking, always keeps us safe, and loves us no matter whatโHappy Mother’s Day! Tag the mom who gives you strength every day.” This heartfelt tribute resonates with the nurturing spirit of all mothers, animal or human.
Kuno National Park continues to play a pivotal role in India’s cheetah reintroduction efforts, providing a diverse habitat for these majestic creatures. With ongoing challenges like cub mortality and health issues, the park remains committed to ensuring a thriving future for its cheetah population.
