Birth Anniversary

8 October in Indian history is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the following personalities:

Badruddin TyabJi (8 October 1844 – 11 August 1906), an Indian lawyer, activist and politician during British Raj. The indomitable courageous and true patriot Badruddin Tyabji’s cooperation in the freedom struggle of India was different. He vehemently opposed the British imperialism sending Indian leaders to jail through an unjust path. Being enamoured with national sentiments, he openly put his thoughts in front of the countrymen and his contribution in political plans was commendable, due to which he was counted in the category of eminent leaders. He was born on 8 October 1844 in Bombay, Bombay Presidency, British India.

Badruddin TyabJi (8 October 1926 – 3 July 1996), an Indian police sub inspector turned to film actor. He was a sub inspector in the Mumbai Police in the late 1940s before he turned to acting with the 1952 Hindi film Rangeeli. He appeared in the Oscar-nominated 1957 film Mother India and went on to star in over 70 Hindi films in a career that spanned over four decades. He was born on 8 October 1926 in Loralai, Baluchistan, British India.

Death Anniversary

8 October in Indian history is observed as the death anniversary of the following personalities:

Munshi Premchand (31 July 1880 – 8 October 1936), an Indian writer of modern Hindi literature. He was a famous writer in Indian history. Munshi Premchand was at the top of the Hindustani writers in the 20th century. He was born as Dhanpat Rai Srivastava, he started his writing under his second name “Nawab Rai” but later he changed his name to “Premchand”. Munshi Premchand was a novelist, story writer and drama writer, his Upnayas became so famous that he was also called by some Hindi poets as “Novel Samrat”. In his life, he has done more than a dozen novels, about 300 short stories, many essays and Hindi translations of some foreign literature. He died on 8 October 1936.

Jayaprakash Narayan (11 October 1902 – 8 October 1979), a great statesman, social reformer, freedom fighter and influential speaker of the country. He is also known as Lok Nayak. He strongly opposed the immoral and undemocratic methods of the Indira Gandhi government and even demanded the resignation of Indira Gandhi. He completed his higher education from Bihar Vidyapeeth by boycotting British-style schools in protest against the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. He died on 8 October 1979.

Kamlapati Tripathi (3 September 1905 – 8 October 1990), an Indian politician, writer, journalist, and freedom fighter. He was a senior Indian National Congress leader from Varanasi constituency. He served as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh as well as Union Minister for Railways. She died on 8 October 1990 at the age of (aged 85) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.
