23rd Divya Kala Mela: A Celebration of Talent

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) (DEPwD), under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, is gearing up for the 23rd Divya Kala Mela. This vibrant event will take place from January 9 to January 19, 2024, at Akota Stadium in Vadodara, Gujarat. The inauguration will be led by the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri B.L. Verma, along with esteemed dignitaries from the Gujarat Government. This Mela promises to be a significant platform for showcasing the talents and products of Divyang entrepreneurs and artisans from across India.

A Showcase of Diverse Products

The 11-day Divya Kala Mela will feature a wide array of products and craftsmanship from Divyang artisans. Visitors can expect to see unique items from various regions, including Jammu and Kashmir and the North Eastern states. The Mela will display handicrafts, handlooms, embroidery works, and regional cuisines, creating a rich tapestry of Indian culture.

Around 100 Divyang artisans and entrepreneurs from approximately 20 states and Union Territories will participate. They will showcase products ranging from home dรฉcor and lifestyle items to clothing, stationery, eco-friendly products, packaged food, organic goods, toys, gifts, personal accessories, and jewelry. This event not only highlights the creativity and skills of Divyang craftsmen but also emphasizes the importance of supporting local artisans. By purchasing these products, visitors can contribute to the economic empowerment of persons with disabilities.

Cultural Activities and Performances

In addition to the marketplace, the Divya Kala Mela will host a variety of cultural activities. The event will feature performances by Divyang artists, as well as well-known professionals. This blend of talent will provide an enriching experience for attendees.

The Mela will be open daily from 11:00 A.M. to 09:00 P.M. Visitors can enjoy a special cultural program titled โ€˜Divya Kala Shaktiโ€™ on January 19, 2025.
