The 21st Divya Kala Mela, a large-scale event aimed at empowering persons with disabilities (PwDs), is being held in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh from October 17 to 27, 2024. Dr. Virendra Kumar Highlights Success of Divya Kala Mela
During his speech, Dr. Virendra Kumar praised the ongoing success of the Divya Kala Mela, which started in 2022. Since then, over 20 fairs have been held across India, generating more than ₹15 crore in income for participating Divyangjans (disabled individuals). He also announced that a special job fair for PwDs will be held on October 25, 2024, to provide new employment opportunities.
Loan Distribution to PwDs
One of the major highlights of the event was the distribution of loans worth ₹1.21 crore to disabled entrepreneurs. These loans, provided by Madhya Pradesh Gramin Bank, Union Bank, and IDBI Bank, will help PwDs expand their businesses. Since the start of the Divya Kala Mela initiative, loans totaling over ₹12 crore have been granted, empowering PwDs to build successful businesses. In addition to financial aid, the event also saw the distribution of essential aids like hearing aids, motors, and lifts, which are crucial for improving the quality of life for disabled individuals.

In his speech, Shri Narayan Das Kushwaha called the Divya Kala Mela a life-changing initiative that has helped many disabled artisans and entrepreneurs achieve self-reliance. He emphasized how this platform not only supports their economic empowerment but also raises awareness about the skills and talents of PwDs across the country.
Cultural Programme “Divya Kala Shakti”
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the event also features a cultural programme called “Divya Kala Shakti”, which showcases the artistic talents of Divyang artists from different parts of India. With performances already held in 15 cities, this program has become a national platform for creative expression by PwDs. The cultural performances bring attention to the incredible artistic abilities within the disabled community and celebrate their achievements.

Shri Sandeep Rajak, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, expressed his hope that the government will organize a World Art Fair in Jabalpur in the future.
