The state of Arunachal Pradesh is considered to be one of the most beautiful in India due to its breathtaking natural beauty, diverse culture, and rich history. A foundation day is celebrated each year on the 20th of February, marking the day when the state became a full-fledged state within the Indian Union. As a day that commemorates the state’s journey toward development and progress, this day is of great significance to the people of Arunachal Pradesh, as well as to all Indians.

The state of Arunachal Pradesh is located in the extreme north of the country, known as the ‘land of the rising sun’. As the land of dawn and lit mountains at the edge of the Himalayas, the state is proud to be known as the land of dawn and lit mountains. Arunachal Pradesh became India’s 24th state.

Arunachal Pradesh Foundation Day: History

NEFA was created in 1972 as a Union Territory, and a significant part of it was named Arunachal Pradesh. The Northeast Areas (Reorganisation) Act of 1971 renamed the region Arunachal Pradesh and made it a Union Territory. Under the supervision of the chief commissioner, northeastern states such as Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura in Arunachal Pradesh were formed. For the Union Territory, a council of ministers was formed around 1975. By becoming the 25th state of Union India, the state became a full-fledged state on 20 February 1987. Since then, the state has made significant progress in various sectors, including agriculture, tourism, and education. The government has implemented several policies and initiatives to promote economic growth and development, particularly in rural areas.

Arunachal Pradesh Foundation Day: Significance

It is an occasion for the people of Arunachal Pradesh to celebrate the rich heritage, culture, and identity of their state. These events bring people from various parts of the state together, making them a grand celebration.

During the celebrations, food stalls display the region’s culinary delights, such as bamboo shoot pickles, smoked meat, and momos.
