Ramesh Chandra Dutt (13 August 1848 – 30 November 1909) was a famous writer in the English and Bengali languages. He was the originator of the ideology of outflow of wealth and a great educationist. He presided over the Lucknow session of the ‘Indian National Congress in 1899. His works include ‘Economic History of British India’, ‘India in the Victorian Age and ‘History of Ancient Indian Civilization’ etc. Ramesh Chandra Dutt had gained special fame as a historical novelist. Initially, Ramesh Chandra Dutt composed 14-level texts on Indian Sanskrit and History in the English language. Later, under the influence of Bankim Chandra, he started composing in his mother tongue Bengali. Ramesh Chandra Dutt gained special fame as a historical novelist. He was Born on 13 August 1848 in Baroda.

Gangaprasad Verma (13 August 1863 – 23 June 1914) the main representative of the Congress from Uttar Pradesh attended the first establishment session of the Congress in Mumbai in 1885. Swami Ramtirtha had a great influence on him. He started his public life in 1883 by editing a bi-weekly paper called ‘Advocate’. Gangaprasad Verma is considered the builder of modern Lucknow city. He was the deputy chairman of the municipality. The present form of the city is due to him. He got 28 roads constructed in the city and also advised other cities for water and sewerage plans. He was also associated with Arya Samaj and Home Rule League. He was also closely related to Allahabad and Banaras Hindu University. He also had a friendly attitude towards people of religions, and he was also a supporter of the ancient Indian education system along with modern subjects. Varma was Born on 13 August 1863 in India.

Vyjayanthimala, is the first successful South Indian actress in Hindi cinema. On the strength of her acting and art, Vyjayanthi Mala set such standards, on which today’s heroines try to make themselves successful. With the image of a classical dancer, Vyjayanthi Mala made the heroine’s dance important in Hindi films. Vyjayanthimala was the first South Indian actress Who touched the heights in Hindi cinema and became an actress with star status across the country. Her pairing with veteran cine actor Dilip Kumar was quite popular. She was Born on 13 August 1936 in Madras, Tamil Nadu.

Sridevi (13 August 1963 – 24 February 2018) was a famous actress in Indian cinema. She remained famous in the world of cinema as Sridevi. Apart from Hindi films, Sridevi also worked in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada films. He started his cine career in 1979 with the film ‘Solva Sawan’, but he got the right recognition in Bollywood with the film ‘Himmatwala’. After this film, she became one of the superstar actresses of Hindi cinema. She received the Filmfare Award thrice. In 2013, Sridevi was also awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India. Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018, in Dubai due to a heart attack. She had come to Dubai to attend her nephew’s wedding. The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind expressed grief over the death of Sridevi. Taking to his Twitter handle, he wrote that- “Shocked by the news of Sridevi’s death. Her films like ‘Moondaran Pirai’, ‘Lamhe’ and ‘English-Viglish’ are a source of inspiration for other actors. With Sridevi’s family. I have feelings.” And Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the sudden demise of Sridevi. The Prime Minister’s Office tweeted: “Saddened by the untimely and sudden demise of the famous actress Sridevi. She played a variety of memorable roles in her long career. I am saddened by this moment of grief. I am with his family. May his soul rest in peace.” She was Born on 13 August 1963 in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu.

Death Anniversary

13 August in Indian history is observed as the death anniversary of the following personalities:

Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar (31 May 1725 – 13 August 1795), the wife of Khanderao, son of Malharrao Holkar. Ahilyabai was not the queen of any big kingdom, but what she did during her reign is astonishing. She was a brave warrior and a skilled archer. He led his army in many wars and fought with valour riding on an elephant. Khanderao died in 1754 AD. Therefore, after the death of Malhar Rao, Rani Ahilyabai took over the reign of the state. Rani Ahilyabai ruled the state very efficiently till her death in 1795 AD. He is counted among the ideal rulers. He is known for his generosity and generosity. He had only one son, Malarao who died in 1766 AD. In 1767, Ahilyabai appointed Tukoji Holkar as the general.

Bhikaji Rustom Cama or ‘Madame Cama’ (24 September 1861 – 13 August 1936), is a special mention in the revolutionary movement, who had helped the Indian revolutionaries a lot while living abroad. His brilliant writings and speeches became a source of great inspiration for the revolutionaries. Who created an atmosphere in favor of India’s independence by visiting London, Germany, and America? He is best known for hoisting the tricolor at the Seventh International Congress held on 22 August 1907 in Stuttgart, Germany. At that time the tricolour was not the same as it is at present. She is popularly known as Madam Cama. Madam Bhikaji Cama hoisted the first flag of India, it had green, saffron, and red stripes. The red colour symbolizes strength, saffron symbolizes victory and the green color symbolizes courage and enthusiasm. Similarly, 8 lotus flowers were the symbols of 8 states of India. ‘Vande Mataram’ was written in the middle of the flag in Devanagari letters. This flag was made by Veer Savarkar along with other revolutionaries. She died on 13 August 1936.
