Jivatram Bhagwandas Kripalani (11 November 1888 – 19 March 1982), an Indian freedom fighter and politician. He started his professional career as a teacher. He had close contact with the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. He had also been the principal of ‘Gujarat Vidyapeeth’, since then he was called ‘Acharya Kripalani’. Kripalani ji was a constant ally of Gandhiji for the salvation of Harijans. He was also the General Secretary of ‘All India National Congress’ and President of Meerut Congress of 1946. His wife Sucheta Kriplani was also the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. After 1927, the life of Acharya Kripalani was completely spent in the freedom struggle and furthering the creative tendencies of Gandhiji. He also established an institution called ‘Gandhi Ashram’ in Uttar Pradesh to revive Khadi and village industries.
