Youth Affairs Department Concludes Successful Chintan Shivir in Lucknow
The fourth Regional Chintan Shivir organized by the Department of Youth Affairs, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, wrapped up today at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow. This event marked the conclusion of a nationwide series of discussions themed “विकसित युवा बनाएगा विकसित भारत (Viksit Yuva for Viksit Bharat).” The second day of the Shivir was focused on transforming the ideas generated from previous discussions into practical strategies aimed at enhancing youth-centric governance and implementation at the grassroots level.
Empowering Youth for Nation-Building
Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse, the Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, addressed attendees, emphasizing the crucial role youth officers play in shaping the nation’s future. She stated, “Because you work on the ground, you understand challenges better, ask the right questions and find practical solutions.” Khadse acknowledged the diligent efforts of field functionaries, highlighting presentations on initiatives such as MY Bharat, the Experiential Learning Programme (ELP), the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), and Fit India as examples of their commitment to addressing local challenges.
The Minister remarked, “This is not merely a duty; it is a responsibility.” She urged youth to focus on both their careers and their contributions to national advancement, inviting each officer to become a hero in the lives of the youth.
Strengthening Partnerships for Local Solutions
Shri Shiv Ratan, Joint Secretary of the Department of Youth Affairs, noted the increasing interest from various Ministries in collaborating with MY Bharat, underlining the platform’s significance in youth engagement and nation-building. He stressed the importance of forging robust partnerships with State Governments, educational institutions, and community stakeholders to address the unique challenges faced by each state. “Our focus should be on strengthening the organisation at the grassroots,” he said, advocating for tailored solutions to local problems while aligning with the national vision of Viksit Bharat.
Dr. Priyanka Shukla, CEO of MY Bharat, praised the commitment of field officers during the Chintan Shivir and encouraged innovative approaches to engage youth. She highlighted that empowering young individuals through meaningful opportunities for volunteerism, leadership, and community participation is key to the success of MY Bharat.
Key Recommendations and Recognitions
The second day featured technical sessions focusing on the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) and Fit India, fostering cross-department collaboration. A significant highlight was the presentation of thematic action plans and case studies by working groups on priority areas such as Nasha Mukt Bharat, gender sensitization, youth leadership, and community mobilization.
The Chintan Shivir concluded with a firm commitment from the Department to strengthen MY Bharat as a platform for youth-led nation-building. Discussions emphasized community engagement, partnerships with educational institutions, technology-driven program delivery, and ongoing capacity building for field functionaries.
Uttar Pradesh was acknowledged as the best-performing state for the highest number of MY Bharat registrations, while the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu was recognized for its outstanding registration percentage relative to its youth population. The insights and recommendations from this gathering will inform future programs, reinforcing the commitment to foster Viksit Yuva as the cornerstone of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
