Global Engagement Through Yoga Bandhan

As part of the IDY 2025 celebrations, the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) recently hosted the inaugural event of the global program “Yoga Bandhan” on June 17, 2025. The event attracted yoga ambassadors from 15 countries, fostering cultural exchange and dialogue on global well-being through yoga.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, emphasized India’s leadership in the global wellness discourse during his keynote address. He noted that approximately 95% of India’s population is aware of Ayush systems, with nearly 35% actively practicing yoga. The event also showcased various initiatives under IDY 2025, including Harit Yoga and Yoga Connect, which aim to promote yoga on a global scale.

International Participation and Future Prospects

The Yoga Bandhan event featured distinguished international delegates, including representatives from Australia, Brazil, China, and several other countries. Following the inaugural session, delegates participated in guided tours, interactive sessions, and cultural performances, further enhancing their understanding of yoga’s significance. The event culminated in their participation in the grand International Day of Yoga celebrations on June 21, 2025.
