Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV Launches for Sale in China

Xiaomi has officially launched its latest electric vehicle, the YU7, in China during the Human x Car x Home event held on Thursday. This new addition to Xiaomi’s expanding vehicle lineup, which includes the SU7 sedan and its high-performance variant, the SU7 Ultra, was first unveiled in May. The YU7 is positioned as a competitor to the popular Tesla Model Y, offering consumers a range of options with three distinct trim levels: Standard, Pro, and Max.

Xiaomi YU7 Price and Availability

The Xiaomi YU7 is available for purchase starting at CNY 253,500, approximately Rs. 30 lakh, for the Standard trim. This variant features an ultra-long-range rear-wheel drive (RWD) configuration. For those seeking more performance, the YU7 Pro and YU7 Max variants are priced at CNY 279,900 (around Rs. 33 lakh) and CNY 329,900 (about Rs. 39 lakh), respectively. Buyers can choose from three exterior colors: Emerald Green, Titanium Silver, and Lava Orange. Additionally, the interior offers three color options, including Pine Gray, Coral Orange, and Twilight Blue, allowing customers to personalize their vehicles to their preferences.

Xiaomi YU7 Battery, Features, and Range

The design of the Xiaomi YU7 draws inspiration from the SU7 sedan but is adapted for an SUV format. Unlike the sedan’s “waterdrop” headlights, the YU7 features hollowed-out headlamps designed to provide 180-degree ultra-wide-angle lighting. The rear of the vehicle is equipped with a halo tail light that has downward-angled corners, enhancing its modern aesthetic.

In terms of size, the YU7 measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a curb weight of 2,405 kg and a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. The vehicle has successfully passed over 50 passive safety development tests and meets all crash standards under C-NCAP and C-IASI protocols. It features Brembo’s four-piston fixed calipers and a quadruple braking safety mechanism, ensuring reliable stopping power. The YU7 is also equipped with advanced suspension systems, including front double wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension, along with a closed double-chamber air spring and continuous damper control for enhanced stability across various terrains.

Performance and Charging Capabilities

The Xiaomi YU7 is powered by the Xiaomi HyperEngine V6s Plus electric motors, which feature upgraded power modules and optimized algorithms for improved performance. The dual-motor all-wheel drive version boasts impressive acceleration, reaching 0-100 km/h in just 3.23 seconds and achieving a top speed of 253 km/h. The electric motors can generate a maximum horsepower of 690 PS and peak power of 508 kW.

The Standard variant is equipped with a 96.3 kWh battery pack, providing an impressive range of 835 km (CLTC). In contrast, the top-tier Max variant features a 101.7 kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 770 km. Xiaomi claims that the YU7 can charge from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes, with a range of 620 km achievable after only 15 minutes of charging. The vehicle supports a maximum charging rate of 5.2C, utilizing an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform with a peak voltage of 897V, making it a competitive option in the electric vehicle market.
