Workshop Boosts Varanasi’s Dolls and Toys Sector with Modern Packaging
The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, in partnership with the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), hosted a transformative workshop in Varanasi aimed at revitalizing the ‘Dolls and Toys’ sector. This initiative, part of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, provided local artisans with essential knowledge on modern packaging techniques, essential for boosting the market presence of their products.
The workshop focused on bridging the gap between age-old craftsmanship and the demands of contemporary markets. Artisans were empowered with practical insights and resources designed to enhance the appeal and marketability of their creations.
Emphasizing the Importance of Packaging
Industry experts from the Indian Institute of Packaging articulated the pivotal role that professional packaging plays in product appeal and transport safety. They argued that innovative packaging not only protects handcrafted items but also significantly elevates their perceived value in both domestic and international markets.
A notable aspect of the workshop was the distribution of high-quality packaging materials to the participating artisans, enabling them to make immediate improvements in product presentation and protection during shipping.
Key Outcomes for Local Artisans
Several important outcomes were achieved during the workshop:
- Enhanced aesthetics of products, which will capture consumer interest.
- Adoption of industry-standard packaging to better compete with global brands.
- Increased awareness of government support and initiatives available for the toy manufacturing sector.
Over 200 artisans and beneficiaries attended this impactful event, marking a significant stride towards capacity building and enterprise development within the region.
