Whirlpool has unveiled its latest front-load washing machines in India, part of the innovative Xpert Care series. A standout feature of this new lineup is the Ozone Air Refresh Technology, which allows users to refresh lightly worn clothes without the need for water or detergent. This technology aims to minimize fabric damage that often results from frequent washing, providing a more sustainable option for garment care.

The Xpert Care series introduces an ozone-based refresh cycle designed specifically for garments that are not visibly stained but may carry odors. Whirlpool emphasizes that many consumers tend to wash these lightly worn clothes unnecessarily, leading to fabric wear over time. With the Ozone Air Refresh feature, users can effectively treat their clothes without the need for a full wash cycle.
This innovative process utilizes an in-built ozoniser that transforms oxygen from the air into ozone gas. The ozone circulates within the washing drum, targeting odor-causing particles and bacteria. At the conclusion of the cycle, the ozone reverts back to oxygen. Whirlpool has conducted tests demonstrating that this system can handle up to 50 continuous refresh cycles on delicate items such as blazers, sarees, trousers, and embellished garments without causing shrinkage or color loss. Furthermore, the ozone cycle is reported to eliminate up to 99.9% of bacteria, allergens, dust mites, and viruses, while also neutralizing odors from smoke and cooking.
Standard Wash Features and Stain Removal
In addition to the Ozone Air Refresh feature, the Xpert Care washing machines come equipped with standard wash programs that promise effective stain removal. Whirlpool claims that these machines can tackle up to 100 common dried stains, including tea, coffee, mud, and chocolate, without requiring pre-treatment. A notable feature is the Fresh Care+ function, which tumbles the drum intermittently and releases steam for up to six hours after a wash cycle ends. This function helps to reduce odors and prevent creasing if clothes are left in the machine.
Other advanced features include a steam wash option for enhanced hygiene, 6th Sense Technology that adjusts wash settings based on load and fabric type, and Zero Pressure Fill Technology for efficient operation even under low water pressure. The machines also feature a Smart Wave Drum design, a spin speed of 1400 RPM, and a spacious 330 mm door opening for easy loading and unloading.
