The initial phase of this rollout allows users to make one-on-one voice and video calls through WhatsApp Web. Group calling is not yet supported, as Meta continues to refine this feature. The company has reportedly invested nearly a year in developing and testing web-based calling before launching this limited release. For those who receive the update, initiating a call is straightforward. Users simply open an individual chat on WhatsApp Web and click the call icon to start a voice or video call. This feature operates directly within the browser, eliminating the need for any additional software downloads or installations.
Enhanced Security and Screen Sharing
WhatsApp has also ensured that its robust security measures extend to web-based calls. Voice and video calls on WhatsApp Web utilize end-to-end encryption, similar to the security protocols in place for mobile applications. This encryption guarantees that only the call participants can access the content, preventing any third parties, including Meta, from eavesdropping. In addition to basic calling functionalities, WhatsApp Web now includes a screen sharing feature during video calls. Future Developments and Expansion Plans
