WEB PORTAL FOR PROVIDING CITIZEN-CENTRIC POLICE SERVICES

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) under the administrative purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs launched the Digital Police Portal (https://digitalpolice.gov.in) on 21 August 2017 which provides the following services to citizens centrally:-

  1. Search for missing persons
  2. Generate vehicle NOC
  3. Information on proclaimed offenders
  4. Locate PS closest to you

Furthermore, through the Digital Police Portal it is also possible to access the following 9 mandatory citizen services provided by the Citizen Portals of the State Police:-

  1. Presentation of complaints to the competent Police Headquarters
  2. Get the status of complaints
  3. Obtain copies of the FIR
  4. Details of people arrested/criminals wanted
  5. Details of missing/abducted persons
  6. Details of stolen/recovered vehicles, weapons and other assets
  7. Presentation of requests for issuance/renewal of the various NOCs (Progress, Event/Show, Protest/Strike, etc.)
  8. Verification requests for employees, employment, passport, senior records etc.
  9. Portal for sharing information and for allowing citizens to download the required forms

MHA also launched the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) (https://cybercrime.gov.in) on August 30, 2019, where citizens can report the incidence of all types of cybercrime, including cyber crimes against women and children. Citizens across the country can access these citizen-centric services through the aforementioned portals. Authorized users of the Law Enforcement and State Police/UT can access the Crime and Criminal database using a secure network.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Ajay Kumar Mishra in a written response to a question from the Rajya Sabha.
