Union Power Minister to dedicate NTPC’s 660 MW Super Thermal Power Project in Barh, Bihar

Union Minister of Energy and New and Renewable Energy Shri RK Singh is dedicating a 660 MW unit of NTPC’s Barh Super Thermal Power Project in Barh, Bihar to the nation on Aug. 18, 2023. The 660 MW unit MW that will be inaugurated is unit no. Phase I of the project. The commissioning of this unit would be another milestone in the government’s effort to provide reliable and affordable power to the nation.

Union Minister for Energy, New and Renewable Energy will also lay foundation stone for POWERGRID 400/132 kV Lakhisarai Substation extension on 18th August 2023. This substation is being constructed by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a central public sector enterprise of Maharatna under Ministry of Energy, Gov of India. Under the project, the 220 kV GIS will be constructed in the existing substation premises together with the installation of 2 transformers of the capacity of 500 MVA.

The expansion of Lakhisarai substation will lead to better power availability in Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Munger and Jamui districts and will also facilitate power supply to meet future power demand. The installation of state-of-the-art GIS technology with a voltage level of 220 kV in Lakhisarai substation will further strengthen the region’s connectivity to the national grid. The provision of an uninterrupted power supply will also lead to the industrial and commercial development of the region.
