He emphasized that the project will significantly contribute to making Uttar Pradesh self-reliant in energy production, thereby enhancing the state’s overall energy security.
The project is designed to generate approximately 9,264 million units of electricity annually, which will not only support local energy needs but also contribute to the broader power supply in northern India. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision of developing modern and efficient power infrastructure to meet the country’s energy aspirations.
Technological Advancements and Project Execution
The Khurja Super Thermal Power Project, with a total capacity of 1320 MW, has been executed through 14 specialized packages. The first unit achieved commercial operation on January 26, 2025, followed by the second unit on September 22, 2025. The project has successfully navigated challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, to ensure timely completion.
Equipped with ultra-supercritical technology and high-efficiency environmental safeguards, the project is designed to operate with a captive coal linkage from the Amelia Mine. This technological advancement not only enhances the plant’s efficiency but also aligns with environmental standards, making it a model for future power projects in India.
